He’s just going to call her “lyin’” or “crooked” or something like that, so she might as well call him what he is…a criminal.

It’s that kind of tit-for-tat that you wouldn’t get from Joe Biden, who was worried about looking polite and respectable. It just wound up making him look weak.

I think the most streamlined nickname the lab-coat wearing neurons in his swollen, cancerous amygdala could come up with is “laffin’” and he had to fucking explain to the sheep he’s trying to herd to he wanted it spelled.

    I dunno, guys.

I feel like we pretty much nailed the ending of Democracy when the Democrats argued in court that they’re a private corporation and don’t have to honor primaries.

What we have isn’t a democracy.

The democratic party IS a private entity. You are welcome to run anyone you want.

We had a primary: Biden/Kamala made the pick. We have less than 100 days to election day. No one is going to set up staff and offices in that time.

You are so transparent it’s not even funny any more.

I don’t know where you’ve been the last 40 years, but none of this is funny to me. I have eight year-old parents borrowing my car right now to work for DoorDash, because they have no other options in Biden’s America.

And what’s worse is you’re not too far from that yourself and you’re voting for it, assuming you’re someone who works for a wage.

You didn’t address anything I wrote. I’ll repeat it in case:

          • Primary picked Biden/Harris on the ticket.

          • Less than 100 days to election day.

The economy is not the presidents fault - they are not God. This is a long process that has been devolving over many years. It’s a cop-out to pin it on a party or president. I wouldn’t say Trump destroyed the economy either, but he did give the biggest tax breaks to the upper echelon of society so the rich made out like bandits while the poor continue to foot the bill. At least democrats are on the side of labor. They are the only ones pushing for social security and protections for labor. Not Republicans and big business.

It’s funny to us that you didn’t know what the court case was about (the party being a non government entity) and you didn’t know what the DNC charter says (guarantees that candidates reflect the will of the primary voters).

because they have no other options in Biden’s America.

Well then you shouldn’t be trying to fool people into helping billionaires get a gigantic GOP tax cut. Again.

          I have eight year-old parents

What I find to be bizarre as an outsider is the attitude in United States politics that there are only two parties and since one is clearly pretty evil, the other one must the good party and therefore can’t be criticized. All this “fuck your ‘but both sides’ hurdy hurrrrr” shite the American liberals spew.

Do they not realize both parties are awful? One is quite a bit less awful, but it’s still awful compared to any parties actually left of center or if just looked at objectively. If the United States had a third party who adhered to the politics of Bernie Sanders, there would be no question it would be superior to the Democrats. But they don’t, so many people consider the Democrats beyond reproach.

What is wrong with all of them?

By my attempts? I don’t live in your shit hole joke of a country. We have more than two political parties. I can make statements criticizing or about wanting more from my preferred party without other supporters coming back with absolutely ridiculous, smooth brained comments like yours. You can’t even criticize my actual stated beliefs in my comments, you have to fabricate your little strawman first.

Fucking Americans. Just the smallest, most immature minds and worldviews you can imagine, yet you oversized toddlers collectively command so much of the world’s power.

What I don’t understand is this nigh worship of the Democratic party, where some adherents won’t countenance the slightest criticism of their “team”. One can still vote for the less bad party AND hold them accountable for their actions.

          Who should I vote for?

          A. The person who says his supporters won’t have to vote anymore after he’s in office and also shares none of my political views

          B. A boring liberal who has a decent left-leaning senate voting record and shares most of my political views

          C. Someone who has absolutely zero chance of winning

You, an utterly deranged person: I better vote for C so that A wins. That’ll teach person B!

(Did Democrats change in the way you wanted them to when Ralph Nader pulled juuuust enough votes away from Gore in 2000 to hand things over to the Bushes again? Or when Jill Stein helped steer voters away from Hilary in 2016? No? Huh, well, let’s just try again, forever, and have nothing to show for it except conservative wins. Unless that was entirely the point?)

Eh… While Hilary and her shills definitely rigged that primary, it took her 8 solid years to get her people into all the positions of power throughout the DNC and state Dem parties so they could shove her down our throats… I don’t think her minion infrastructure is still in place like it was then… And I think it was more her controlling the party that made the party undemocratic, than about the party itself actually being fully undemocratic.

it took her 8 solid years to get her people

She doesn’t have any people. There is a complete changeover of delegates every 4 years. The 2020 delegates and the 2024 delegates were Biden’s people.

than about the party itself actually being fully undemocratic.

        I don’t know that I agree.

These DNC insiders, more than most, have had a front-row seat for the very public cognitive decline that Joe Biden has displayed over the last 2-3 years, and they crowned him anyway. If he hadn’t had that very public break on national television, things would be very different now. They couldn’t stage manage his brain melting.

I think they want a useful idiot president they can maneuver around the board every bit as much as the Trump’s handlers do.

Will you stop with the nonsense? What your own link says is that they argued in court that they are a non government entity and as such has the power to alter their own charter if they wish. This is technically true and true for the RNC as well because they are not government organizations. But if they altered the charter we would see that it is altered.

[“The court would have to basically tell the party that it couldn’t change [the neutrality rule], even though it’s a discretionary rule that it didn’t need to adopt to begin with.”]

      https://democrats.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/DNC-Charter-Bylaws-03.12.2022.pdf

The charter guarantees that the delegates “fairly reflect” the will of the voters:

Section 4. The delegates shall be chosen through processes which: (a) assure all Democratic voters full, timely and equal opportunity to participate and include affirmative action programs toward that end, (b) assure that delegations fairly reflect the division of preferences expressed by those who participate in the Presidential nominating process

The charter says any proposed changes would have to be released to the national news media 30 days before voting.

Section 1. This Charter may be amended by a vote of a majority of all of the delegates to the National Convention, provided that no such amendment shall be effective unless and until it is subsequently ratified by a vote of the majority of the entire membership of the Democratic National Committee. This Charter may also be amended by a vote of two-thirds of the entire membership of the Democratic National Committee. At least thirty days written notice shall be given of any National Committee meeting at which action will be taken pursuant to this Section, and any proposed amendment shall be given to all members of the National Committee and shall be released to the national news media.

Of course the court case is not relevant. Why the f*ck would it be? We always knew that the Dem and GOP parties are non government organizations with the power to alter their own charters.

What matters is what the charter actually says. That is the only document that is relevent.

Look, obviously vote like your life depends on it, but we’re going to have to do something more than vote eventually.

This is the third election we’ve had to deal with Trump. This kind of threat to democracy will exist with every election until we do something to make the US population less fascist.

Fortunately, we have a cult of personality surrounding an elderly man, rather than a legitimate political movement, so he will eventually die and take a lot of political energy with him.

No. To me it’s because no other campaign going against Trump acknowledged any of trumps treasonous rhetoric and acted like it was just some silly goof they were going against. For 8 years they let this man lie and fire up a base and make every problem the American is facing the lefts fault. The news media ate it and doubled down. Now half of the Republicans thinks democrats are children eating demons and that they are the enemy destroying America. It didn’t help that Biden’s campaign was “I’m not the other guy” without bringing any substantive relief. Harris coming with receipts and bringing up the straight up treason from Trump’s campaign is what needed to be happening day 1. Kamala’s policy is going to be important, but right now the biggest danger to America’s future isn’t student debt relief or universal Healthcare. It’s fascism. And we’re there at fascism. The nazi party isn’t going away. Burn it down, bring up how it does not belong in America, pacify the people by giving them substance to live and not be forced to raise a family in debt from grocery shopping.

I’m sure Republicans are all going on about how he’s “just joking”. Sure, that obviously was a joke but it’s not like conservatives don’t want exactly this – they always hide behind “it was just a joke maaaannn” when the heinous shit they say causes a negative reaction

Their interpretation is that he was trying to motivate a bunch of old Christians to come out and vote for him so he can fix all the problems with America, and then they can go back to not voting because it’ll all be fixed.

Thanks for sharing this interpretation. Assuming for a moment that was his actual intent in saying that (I watched the clip several times and I simply could not decipher his actual intent), I would suggest that it should still be essentially campaign-ending to say something so closely resembling a call for the end of elections once you are elected. People should be so repulsed by the idea that it makes all candidates feel obliged to speak carefully and clearly enough to avoid even the insinuation of saying such things.

People are always trying to make excuses for Sex Offender Trump and they are always wrong. He actual intent is (1) to appeal to the neofascist movement and (2) to force you to pay attention to him like an abusive spouse. If elected Sex Offender Trump will say shit like that every single day to make you pay attention to him and it will continually escalate throughout his 4 years to try to condition people to let him stay in power.

It doesn’t help that Trump’s speeches are full of semi-coherent rambling and tangential sentence fragments, and that his entire style has always been to speak entirely in ridiculous hyperbole. It makes it easier for people to interpret statements in whatever way best fits their point of view, because you just get used to filling in the context and reducing his absurd claims down to a vague generality.

I’m sure Trump defenders will argue that he was saying “you won’t have to vote” only meant that the next election won’t have such high stakes because Trump will fix America’s problems and yada yada yada.

I despise the guy but I’m not sure how to say this without sounding like I support him…I honestly think this IS what I think he meant. The dude can’t put together coherent sentences. Words just kind of fall out of his mouth.

With that said, eliminating elections is definitely what his puppet masters want so it’s kind of a moot point. This is their long game and Trump is just a piece of the puzzle.

I honestly think this IS what I think he meant.

Never get inside a conservative’s mind if you come out with a loser defeatism attitude. He might try to claim that as his fall back cover story when a journalist presses him on it, but it’s not what he meant at all. The most generous interpretation is “I don’t care who wins after me because I just want to win to stay out of jail”. The most likely interpretation is "Pay attention to me. Pay attention to me. Pay attention to me. " If he wins he will be saying shit like that every single day for 4 years like an abusive spouse just for the attention. But he absolutely will try to end democratic elections if he think he can get away with it.

I think this is dangerous. He may not be articulate, he may not be good at math, but the man is smart when it comes to working a crowd. He has done enough to become president once and I don’t think a stupid man would fumble his way there.

He’s smart, even if I hate to admit it. To pretend he isn’t means we aren’t taking him as seriously as we should.

I’ll tell you all a secret:

Win this for us all and we can do almost the same thing. In four years we could make voting easier. We could collectively push to end gerrymandering and implement a fair and true foundation for a stronger and better system. If Trump and his cronies truly believe they can take down everything that has been built, I bet we can begin building a better tomorrow through the action of each of us as individuals, working together towards a more positive future.

Let’s pay to deliver our future and not get robbed to repeat the past.

Yeah, but don’t stop at Trump. Get the fuckers out of the House/Senate too. Vote against Trump-lite mayors, , councils, and civil positions. This doesn’t mean always vote D, but stop letting insane candidates win via voter apathy, whatever the riding.

Where you can, make a difference yourself. Run for HOA, school board, etc yourselves and get the power-tripping fucktards out.

The “He’s weird” is the equivalent of “Doesn’t she look tired” in Doctor Who, when the Doctor decides to end a bad politician’s career. That sentence, as it starts spreading, destroys her career.

This is what they aim for, and it’s meant for MAGAs, to crack them open.

I think Biden was the best person to run in 2020.

His prior experience with the office + familiarity with world leaders is what allowed him to actually work from day one and also get NATO back together.

Remember that trump didn’t hand the power peacefully, was blocking intelligence reports and our relationship with our allies was in the shitter.

Putin started to preparing to invade Ukraine in April 2021 (or at least that’s when or intelligence noticed it), putin was certain that Biden won’t be able to reunite West on time.

All other 2020 candidates would need some time ramp up as they did not have the same experience.

That is the case, yes. And still, it changes nothing. He is still suggesting that if Christians go out and vote this year, they won’t have to ever again because, and these are his words, “it’ll be fixed.”

Probably because he has literally claimed he will be a dictator (for one day only, wink wink). And probably because he actually attempted, in a number of illegal ways, to not count the last election so he could remain in power. You know, like a dictator.

Look, if this was literally anybody else I’d be willing to use a more charitable interpretation. Call it a gaffe at least. But Trump should have burned every last ounce of benefit of the doubt that anybody has for him the moment he abandoned his colleagues in the Capitol so he could see what the violent mob would do.

We spent the entire 2020 election going “Oh Trump doesn’t really mean it like that.” Until he did exactly what he fucking said he would do. Why are we doing this again?
