Share market seems to be up today - although when the value of your shares has hit rock bottom up is pretty much all that’s left! Although my worst performer is just sitting there with it’s 87% loss, it’s not even worth the cost of selling at this point. I might be able to recoup enough for a sandwich, as long as it’s a cheap one from the lunch truck and nothing fancy.

I had some fun with penny stocks that dissolved. Legit no idea what happened. Only a few hundred, but I could have used it for plenty of other more enjoyable things.

I think if the company winds up you just lose the money. I also had one company that did a buy-back of small parcels of shares which you had to opt out of if you wanted to keep the shares. Another was bought out by an overseas company - which was actually nice, I made a 50% profit in just over 12 months. I wish I’d bought more than $200 worth of that one!

I’ve been learning a lot about how the market works, but I definitely prefer funds than individual stocks. But buying a few stocks for $200 has taught me a lot about how everything works. I lost a lot of the value almost straight away, but I have gained most of the losses back over the last couple of years - if things continue as they are I look like I might actually start to make a profit longer term, so things are not as bad as they looked initially.

Seems like I was on a similar trajectory. Penny stocks seemed like a bit of fun, but it definitely an all-consuming learning curve and bit of a circle jerk in some of forums I was reading. I lacked a bit of patience when I was first interested in it. I’m not much of a gambler, so EFTs have been a pretty safe bet.

I decided to dip the toes into ETFs last December, using the Superhero app. Mix of Aussie and US, i just add money to my account any month i have any left over to do so, ill put some in savings and some into the ETF account. Probably looking at about 10% increase across the board when i hit the 1 year mark which has been nice. Your worst performer reminds me of much of my crypto, not worth the hassle of trading or withdrawing out!!

I can’t wait to move back to the inner city. It’s so isolating here. Like, I’m the only person here in a weird way.

I don’t see anyone often except for the train in the morning. Or the supermarket.

    So lifeless.

I have to wait if/until I pass probation.

      In the description…

“a wonderful sense of understated opulence”. Err that’s not understated.

Whilst I like to see what crazy houses bigly huge money can get you… you’d need an army of people for the upkeep with something like that.

The entry is so grey and dull. The terrace though with the pool, wow. And all those windows.

Just Googled most expensive house sale in Melbourne, $52m. This is a nice house overall but most expensive ever in Melbourne? I dunno.

I think they went too “safe” with the colour scheme since this was renovated for sale. The grey is a bad choice.

not sure if anxious or excited, I’ve been getting dirt roaded for so long I’ve lost the ability to tell the difference. So I’m distracting myself designing suction cup hangers for our shampoop scalp massagers, I’m sick of seeing His Lordship’s migrate across the bathroom. Very schmick if I say so myself.

They must’ve sold a fuckton of tickets in that presale, there were 13k people in front of me in the queue when I joined at 10am when it opened.

Hope you all enjoy your festival!

That 35k is going to avg more than 1 ticket per person in the queue which is madness for the first presale.

Yeah got ours, we were on the fence as we have no interest in the lineup, but we go every year and love festival vibes so yah know.

I do miss it being held at Footscray Community Arts Centre though :'(

            Yeah that is madness.

Did you go when Tame Impala were small and playing in it? It’s crazy how some artists have blown up since they played at Laneway.

              Yeah I was there in 2017 :D

Seeing artists blow up is my jam, I prefer catching them when they’re playing local dive bars though or just dropped their first track online; it makes seeing them at a festival all that more awesome. It’s just a shame they stop remembering you.

Grappling with extreme anxiety attacks lately. Just taking it day by day and trying to arrest the doom spiralling and catastrophizing.

Great way to lose weight though.

Hang in there mate. I’ve had a shit time recently too. Day at a time is the way to go. As banal as it sounds, recognising the doom spiralling and catastrophising is an important step towards trending back to a stable state. You got this

I’m trying to update my bank account details on my work’s payroll software and it’s not letting me do it. So I sent an email to payroll, and almost signed it off with “Retards” instead of “Regards”. Just one of those days.

    Linux sysadmin horror story

I did the thing…the rm -rf * thing in the wrong directory

    😱

Did not take out the server but did take out one of those legacy Cron jobs that’s been running for years but no-one quite remembers how it works and it turns out it was not being backed up (that was a fun additional realisation) and kinda sorta really important.

    Eek.

Just spent the last few hours surgically reinstating the code from and out of date backup.

    Fingers crossed.

I planned on a nice relaxing day today but the man is here and it’s hard to relax with the energizer bunny hopping around asking if there’s anything I’d like him to do. Yes, go outside and don’t come back for a really long time. I know that’s mean and I know I’m lucky but he’s been bopping around since 8 am and I’m tired watching him now.

send him over here, we got lawns that need mowin’ and our resident ADHD is off taking his referral diagnosis to a gp to refer him a psychologist who can approve his referral and refer him back to a GP to prescribe meds
