    Gratitude thread.

Went to the 1000 steps yesterday. Was good fun. They even had toilets with toilet paper, soap and hand driers.

I’m grateful for the amount of shit I’ve accumulated. I was actually thinking about it last night - I’ve managed to gather a lot of stuff over the last 5 years. Before that I actually had very little, I had a $30 Optus phone and a rubbish bag with a days worth of clothes. That was all I had when I entered care in 2018.

Since then I’ve managed to get so much more than I could’ve ever predicted. It’s really, really weird to think about. And even with the theft and destruction of a bunch of things, it hasn’t really affected me much. I don’t mean mentally, obviously it didn’t feel good to lose my things, but in terms of everything else, I still have enough things that I’m able to do just about everything I want/need to do. I can still play my games and work on (some) of my projects. That’s crazy too, and I’m really really lucky to have the amount of things I do

I had a lovely lunch with friends today.

Winter strawberries from Queensland are delicious.

I’m grateful I can crochet, and keep myself busy and occupied while making something useful and often pretty.

You know how sometimes when you’re hungry you can open your mouth and saliva fires out from your salivary glands under your tongue like a friggin venom spitting snake? Usually happens at the worst times and a loved one might catch a stray. I might be nuts but I think I can do that on command. Is that normal?

Devoured a book in one day like I used to as a kid. So that’s cool.

Downside is it was I’m Glad My Mom Died and I related concerning amounts with it. Need to process that, I guess. Good book.

Also I’m an absolute fiend for burritos lately. I want nothing more than to order one but I’ve already had like… Three fast food burritos over the last 5 days and that’s not sustainable.

I fried my brain and triggered myself into orbit reading The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Bessel van der Kolk, about C/PTSD and how our bodies physically store trauma. 10/10, but damn one better be in a good, scientific frame of mind because the case studies are heavy.

I’ve been meaning to read I’m Glad My Mom Died, how did you find it? (Besides the subject matter, of course).

Incredible book. Her writing is punchy and captivating. Almost hypnotic how it kept me interested.

I’ll put that on my list of things to look at. I just got an ereader and have lots of reading to catch up!

I eventually recovered from this morning’s headache with some decent pho, only to end up staying out late with a wine and cider. Probably will be okay, I don’t feel as crazily buzzed as I did last night, but I’ve taken a preventative Nurofen anyway. It was a good night of catching up so I don’t mind. Lots to do when I wake up though so hope I don’t feel too crummy in the morning. Good night everyone.

Fell asleep to some video of the difference between Quebecois and Parisian French. Felt somewhat better after and made it to airport short term wait area. No hope of any meal prep tonight so I think I’m just gonna have to write off the rest of today and consider a sickie tomorrow if I don’t feel any better. Blurgh. Brain no can use

A lot is new merchandise that would have gone into landfill and I’m like “I’ll take it for around the house”. I’m slowly drowning in it now. I never need to buy new clothes ever again.

“It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country.”

Duuuude, you are massively responsible for the country being a shithole. How is this at all incredible?! The incredible thing is it took THIS long for someone to take a shot at either of ‘em.

Yeah, I was wondering why it took so long. I thought the number 2 reason their redneck gun but types give for why they neeeeeed a gun is that they can assassinate their leader if they don’t like them. Or maybe it’s number 3. Dealing with trespassers, personally taking down an invading military, and assassinations are what I hear the most often

Several assassination attempts in USA history - Kennedy, Lincoln and a couple of others whose names escape me. Political violence has been part of the culture from the get go, when the Pilgrm Fathers set up their little isis-lookalike theocracy.

Tbf though, didn’t someone try (and fail) to shoot an (Eastern?) European president like a month ago?

Today was sorting day, since I wanted a clear day to tackle the back room. Didn’t quite get the floor cleared but got a through path and more stuff on the shelves (and crap off the shelves).
Also got on a roll this evening and got the DVDs unpacked and shelved. And found the pyrex, so bonus!

    Anti-gratitude thread.

Only slept around five hours last night and I can’t be stuffed meal prepping. But I shall persevere.

Also the cost of groceries. $100 just for my food? Kinda crazy.
