This guy is Imgur famous for doing structural integrity inspections of houses, requiring him and his team to go under the floor of houses and film the dodgy and interesting stuff found there. I think they’re in the California area, so they get called to inspect after the seismic activity they have there, and often find buildings that weren’t built to code in the first place. Your photo was like the classic beginning of a “Things seen this week during structural assessments” post.

Ooh, glad you’re ok. I heard it on the roof at work and went to peek outside the door strips. Boss looked at me quizzically and I said, “you know, I’m 50 years old, and I still have to go have a look at the hail!” He said, “you know, there’s nothing wrong with that at all.”

Eating when you’re not hungry does me in, but the reason is that my biggest problem is also eating to avoid food being wasted. I think, “look that’ll get thrown out, can’t waste it,” and I’ll eat it when I’m not hungry, especially things that aren’t freezable or good for lunch the next day. I’ll have to maybe start making smaller portions.

I was doing ok until I recently said I was, then I jinxed it 😔 Glad you’ve got some results though, well done!

Miniest couldn’t get to sleep at first due to the noise, then wouldn’t stay asleep. Didn’t help having a half demolished house down the road, lots of banging and loose sheet metal type of noises. If I sent her to school she’d fall asleep at her desk, which she’s done before, so she can stay home. Wish I could too, but I’m off to work in an unusually empty bus.

Oh wow I’d forgotten about this! I loved this show when I was really little, I don’t remember why.

That’s the sad part, I’ve never been rich either. When I was a student, just over 30 years ago, my then boyfriend and I rented a flat 1 minutes walk from St Kilda beach for $75 a week. You could get a bowl of chilli or fill it yourself falafel in Acland St for $4. We bought a 2 bedroom flat in another part of St Kilda for $87,000. Our relationship went arse up and we sold it within a few short years for not much more than we paid for it. Then I moved to Brunswick, where you could rent a 4 bedroom house for $85 per week. Some houses were shitty, some had the odd unusable room complete with hole in the roof. Some had old stables out the back. But at that price who cared. We drank wine and partied every night. Young people now will never have the experience of living in vibrant areas on the cheap the way I did, and it makes me sad. But you’ve gotta take the wins where you can, like you have, with your garden and financial security, and I’m actually quite a nostalgic and ungrateful bastard lol.

Ikwym about the whole “dead suburb” thing. After living in places like Brunswick, and St Kilda many years ago, I unreservedly hate where I live now. Just houses, houses, houses being demolished and replaced with grey shitty dog box units, the odd shitty overpriced cafe. Boring as fuck and lifeless. If you live in the outer outer suburbs, out west or north I especially sympathize. Lucky to have a shitty overpriced mini mart in some of those places.

Did Father’s Day shopping plus birthday shopping as Mr P’s bday is in a few weeks, and I thought I may as well get it out of the way whilst all the manly gifty goods were on display for the purchasing at a discount price lol.

A friend of a friend of ours has a Staffy which has just had pups and we are being offered our choice. 😃🤔😃🤔😃🤔😃🤔 are my thoughts at the moment. I love them; I’ve always found them loving, staunch, and funny, such clowns. And I’d love for the kids to finally have a dog. And the breeder’s lovely. BUT… The side fence needs replacing and the neighbours insist they can’t afford to pay their share, so we’ve been nailing bits together and making do with star pickets for years. They’ve got a very exy breed of dog they’ve had for a few years (think several grand) so I’m surprised they’re not more motivated to do the fence, but blood from a stone I guess. A Staffy would eat the fence for brekkie. Plus they do need very strong, solid and consistent training right from the very beginning. Plus all the costs involved, on a single income 😬 I feel very sad inside, because I always thought that if you can’t afford to prioritise the costs of pet ownership for an animal that relies on you for it’s existence then you shouldn’t do it. If I’m not being a hypocrite then I know my answer, even though I haven’t given an answer yet. It’s not fair for the dog or us if we’re just scraping by. But it hurts. It’s not the first time I’ve been offered a pup; last time it was a Jack Russell, a breed I love even more (I’ve owned 3). That one really hurt to say no to, and Mr P was shitty at me for days, but I just can’t. I can’t if I can’t afford to be the kind of owner the dog deserves. And it hurts 😔

I cut my own hair as well, have done for years, so you’re not alone. Hairdressers are expensive and I got tired of being asked personal questions about my private life but not being listened to when I told them what I wanted them to do with my hair. I do the trick where you make a ponytail at the front of your hair about as far down as you want your fringe to end and then cut it there, there are YouTube videos and how to videos and articles on it. It’s good enough for me, I wear a hair covering with my hair tied up underneath for work anyway 5 days a week. I don’t really care about how it looks, I’ve never been blessed with lovely hair anyway.
