To make up for not feeling hungry this morning I now have a horrific craving for greasy sausages. I wonder if the Coles nearby has the brand of vegan snags I like. But after this morning’s jaunt and then the boiling hot laundromat journey I’m not going out again. Ikea and the lot can be left to tomorrow.

…although, despite my recent extravagance^, I think I’ll go for that pizza dinner. They do a mock beef Mexican, i have to try it.

Gonna have to work extra hard over the next few weeks to make up for some of this.

^ (and also eyeing off a $750 phone to buy on sale to replace my device bricked by the 3g shut down)

I used to love these but my local stupormarkets don’t stock them anymore 🙁 They had a black bean and beetroot flavour I liked too.

I loved those, and the Eaty brand - both disappeared :( then vEEF brought in some nice ones but they then proceeded to be constantly sold out at the Woolies near my old place

Why do they do this‽ They stock a ridiculous amount of veggie burger patty type of things, the kind of things that are crazy easy to make yourself, but not sausagey things which are not easy to make at home 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ugh, i know right? I basically never use the patties but the snags really hit the spot especially for breaking. I shall go suss it out tomorrow

Beach walk and quick shopping trip done, now to hide inside for the day and plan/book a trip. Cool thoughts to you all!

It is not advised that you further deprive yourself of water and electrolytes .

It would help me die quicker, which at high temperatures is pretty much what I feel like doing.

Fortunately the work air conditioning is cranked up. I might need to put my cardigan on.

Went to the supermarket early to beat the crowds and traffic, but copped the traffic hard on the way back. Absolute chaos out there.

ugh, trying to do a crossword and the clues just keep moving up and down, forcing me to keep looking for them and messing with my head and eyes

    think I’ll drop that one

seriously, reminds me of early tv when they would use special effects just because they could even tho they looked shit and had no actual artistic purpose

Old man changed the aircon remote language to polish somehow. So, had a crash 2min course in polish and now I’m fluent and can fix all your accidental language changes from polish to english. But seriously, that is a severely difficult language.

Out and about. Took down serious self-convincing. Overcast, but still feels like burning face off weather.

So many of my favourite chicken sandwiches available I have no appetite for it. Also, weirdo I am I still have hot coffee in this weather… Somehow I have received an iced one. I must look like I need it.

Not so bad outside as it’s overcast rather than skin-peelingly burning hot. Wait for blood test took an hour but at least it was air conditioned inside so I caught up on my crosswords. Grabbed some Argentinean empanadas for lunch on a whim (yum!!!), and a late coffee… Apt has stayed pretty nice and cool so far. I’ve been running the extractor fan in the bathroom which I think is kinda sorta helping to suck cool air in from the lounge via the bedroom?

Cringing a bit at how much drying I’ll need to do at the laundromat. I’ve put the towels to air dry a bit in the bathroom until I’m ready to go so there’s less paid drying involved. So dumb to have to use a dryer on a day like today. I won’t be here long enough to warrant buying a dryer for the unit, either… once I’ve opened up more space here I’ll look into some strategic clothes horse positions for drying work clothes and the like.

I will say there is something about living within walking distance to SO much stuff and activity (but not having to hear most of it at home). It’s like being on holiday in a downtown airbnb.

What you’re describing sounds like heaven to me at the moment.

I cannot wait to leave this area and side of town. It was a giant waste of time anyway.

I can definitely appreciate how you feel, it’s how I felt when I first came to Aus and the first few years were all in deep suburbia where i couldn’t fathom the way of life. I can kind of see why Richmond rentals attract a premium compared to say the equivalent in Hawthorn, simply for the vibrancy and density. Still overpriced IMO and no longer my thing but I can try and enjoy it while I’m here (while trying not to spend too much… none of this fun is for free)

Have made a gingerbread dough and it’s chilling in the fridge. Miniest made me do it 🫡 I’m sure she likes to eat the dough as much as the finished gingerbread, it smells like Christmas. I just realised I don’t have a gingerbread emoji, so 🫚🍞

I finished The House on the Borderlands yesterday. It was ok. Not as engrossing as The Night Lands but still very imaginative and having all the elements of a gothic novel.

I’ve read the Poe short stories just a few years back in a lovely edition called Steampunk Poe, so I might skip them for now.

Gormenghast? It’s been quite a while since I’ve read the trilogy, I find the characters and the world engrossing. 🙂 Greatly recommend. I think I’ll do this, then Poe novels and some HP Lovecraft. These are all rereads of course, oh god I did so much reading in my 20s and 30s,

various renditions of Titus Groan have been sampled, the audible version is best and has been bought 👍

    also, art books 🥶

    What dis weather, though.

Humid and ambient heat seeping through the pores of the city.
