over whelmed by packing has started.

I think I should concentrate on totally finishing a room at a time.

        indeed

When news stops what does a person do?

I suppose what people in the SSR used to do. Keep a diary.

I think the saddest thing I have heard this week, and i have a lot going on, is the loss of Voice of America. All those old movies where you see people in communist or fascist countries huddled around a contraband home made radio listening to news, they were listening to Voice of America, Radio Free Europe, Voice of Liberty .

There is BBC World Service still and now it is more vital than ever.

At least the anti Musk protesters have doubled down after Trump’s threats of prosecution (ie, if they damage a Tesla they’re terrorists, lol) This is the spirit the US needs!

This bloke is interesting - claims to be an independent observer/commentator Paul Warburg.

I enjoy his insights/observations. He seems to me to be a voice of reason in a very unreasonable situation. His analysis is I think worth listening to.

          Bonus BBQ sauce recipe

Seriously one of the tastiest BBQ sauces I’ve ever had, Minipeelers gave it a solid 10/10 on chargrilled chicken.

Hello! Hear you’re interested in a cola recipe.

I found the star anise was too much for our taste so I only put one in and more vanilla. Much more to my taste. Some extra browning sauce doesn’t hurt.

Don’t do what I did and accidentally simmer for longer than 10 minutes. It really doesn’t need more than that and some of the spices and flavours will infuse more and possibly be too strong in the end result.

I had to make the browning sauce the day before. Get ½ cup of warm water and set aside. Get ½ cup of brown sugar, put it in a saucepan over low heat and heat it until it starts melting, stirring constantly. Once it’s melted, keep stirring until the liquid sugar goes very dark brown almost black. Remove from heat and (this is the risky/exciting part) add a drop of the water at a time, stirring thoroughly after each addition. It’ll spit angrily at first, that’s why you add a drop at a time, but it’ll settle down after you’ve added about half the water. Let it cool and jar it, it keeps for ages. I’ve messed up this part and damn near burnt the sugar, the liquid tasted burnt and I cursed lavishly. The next day it didn’t taste burnt so I used it and it was fine.

same deal but add acid instead of water (I’ve found vinegar works just as damned well as lemon juice and no one has ever been able to tell the difference) and you have golden syrup

I’m pretty glad to be out in the field for work on a stunning day like this but really nervous about having enough time and energy to prep my uni data all in one night (a chunk of manual work remains). At least I only need to leave the house around 10am so if I need to push on through till 1am I can do it. Was working till 11:15pm last night to get the bit of desktop work due today out of the way…

People are starting to wear layers. I don’t get it. I’m still just wearing a polo and absolutely basking in the cool morning air

I layer the same all year round. Good quality t-shirt, button-up shirt and chinos. If mornings dip below 10, I throw on a light jacket. Winter the heavy jacket comes out.

real heads wear a short sleeve shirt with a big jacket over the top so you’re either too hot or have to strip away to nothing. No inbetween
