So was Wendell Berry.
I’ve always thought this about Opal stone. It looks like a made up stone from an alien planet.
These days, I avoid Spotify, or anything else with their ridiculous advertisements. I used to pay for Spotify but they charge so much for paying so little to the artists that I didn’t want to support them anymore. Not to mention that I truly dislike this algorithmic world we live in, where things are “recommended” for me, but it’s part of an endless conveyer belt of things being sent my way when I didn’t ask for it.
I’m working on getting a record player so I can just intentionally play the music I want. I also like the physicality of it. It feels easier to dive into the artist’s vision of the album as a full experience.
which always reminded me of the way it was done on old pirate ships
Hey - that’s a neat way of thinking about it!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the best YouTube video that you watched in 2025?
0·28 天前I’ve truly went in on ARIatHome, a talented musician just randomly running into people in new york and getting them on the mic, looping them in. Lots of great freestyles that come up. He does full livestreams too, on his page.
Examples:

https://youtu.be/M7gdQYxniV4I just found Fulton Lee who’s got a playful energy version of something similar.

In the same vein (Kojima) I was going to say Death Stranding.
Oh they brought a lot of love alright

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is too high for a pending authorization charge for a gasoline purchase?
0·2 个月前I could just as easily say the opposite from my experience and those around me. I get $1 charges all the time. Not all do, of course, but plenty do.

0·2 个月前A nice gesture that’s focused on the validation of the giver, in clear violation of the stated wishes of the receiver, is not a nice gesture.
I think this is the heart of it. Really depends on OPs delivery, but if this was at least communicated, I can’t see how they wouldn’t see where OP was coming from too.
It’s so hard in this consumerist society to tell people sometimes it’s a better gesture not to wastefully buy things just to say you cared.

Can’t believe the mistake in this one - Fungi are the gods.
Yeah the funny and notable part about it is the fact that the English word isn’t said with a Spanish accent.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is anyone just like... very terrified of losing your memories?
0·2 个月前What if you had an object that would only help you remember that you had forgotten something, but not tell you what it was that you had forgotten?

It makes sense that one who is spineless would naturally be bent over.
