Hasn’t mass deportation been happening since Obama? Didn’t Biden up the efforts with his administration? Kamala went down to the border and said “Do not come”, yet these people are pretending it’s not happening.

This is a difficult topic, there is deportation of people who’s asylum claim fails. But there is a dog whistle to deport “the other”, especially when birthright citizenship is also whistled.

I don’t like how we currently handle the immigration, but if you think any of what is happening now or under Obama was bad, wait until you see what trump plans. To compare the mass deportations planned by trump and his plan to Obama is a bad faith, both sides argument.

Why do people on this site assume others haven’t thought of things? What is this need to be overly nit-picky and pedantic? Have you considered that maybe what I’m saying is different than what you thought and that I’m only criticizing some aspect of the whole? You’re the second person doing that today. Instead of outright accusing someone of things, why don’t you ask clarifying questions first?

E: Downvote if you feel identified. God forbid someone expresses their frustration at this neckbeard behavior.

It’s why education is so important. It’s also why the rich (a.k.a. the Republican Party) want to gut education. An uneducated population is so much easier to manipulate - why reign in the Supreme Court, the 1%, or the government when minorities are the cause for all of your problems? It’s the same tactic that’s been used and nauseum for literally millennia. It’s tried and true, and only education will stop it. Hell, global education is the reason we are even in such a golden age right now…

                No. @[email protected] said:

why reign in the Supreme Court

This is, based on my understanding of the whole context, an error. And not just a simple typo or harmless mistaken homophone. It actually fundamentally changes the meaning of that phrase. They intended it to say “why put controls on the Supreme Court”. But the words actually used mean “why rule as a member of the Supreme Court”. It took me 3 or 4 rereads of the comment to understand that the hyphen that preceded that phrase was meant to switch to a sarcastic tone about switching blame, rather than asking a question about Republican goals (“why go to the effort of controlling the Supreme Court…if we’re not going to abuse those powers to keep the population dumb”, or something along those lines, is what I was expecting)

So I suggested the correction: “rein in”.

@[email protected] was just…I dunno, making a shitty joke, I guess? It doesn’t add anything to anyone’s conversation.

I am slowly giving up hope of politics; Hitler is after all the Chosen One of his people. I do not believe that he is in the least bit shaky, I am slowly beginning to think that his regime can really still last for decades. There is so much lethargy in the German people and so much immorality and above all so much stupidity.

I am willing to bet that it has significantly more to do with narcissism and a religious-indoctrination-induced mental illness than it does stupidity.

There’s a reason they’ve been attacking education for generations. There’s a reason donnie gassed a bunch of protesters to hold a bible upside down in front of a church. Religion literally teaches you to disregard logic and “just have faith”, from birth. The sooner people understand the real problem the sooner it can be resolved.

I don’t see anything in the Biden bill about deporting people who have been living in the US for any amount of time. It seems to be all about quickly turning around new migrants during “surges” and changes to the way new cases are handled. I’m not saying I support the bill, but it does not seem to be a mass deportation bill. Tell me if I’m wrong.

It’s not a mass deportation bill, but it is an asylum denial bill that violates international law and it’s one that Trump killed.

Trump killed a legitimately bad and cruel bill. He did it because he’s a petty idiot and he didn’t want to let his rival have a “win”, but he still did it. Harris promises to bring that awful shit back. All bipartisan bills are bad, every time. Whenever democrats start talking about bipartisanship, realize what they’re actually talking about is fascist collaboration.

The other party is the enemy. We shouldn’t be working with them, we should be- doing something else with them. 🙂

The lesser evil is doing genocide.

Trump is the vulgar evil, which is why under Trump we saw the largest protest movement in US history. When Trump does and says his stupid evil bullshit, people fight back.

Bipartisanship is the boring evil, it tries to lull people to sleep. People in the US are still fighting back against the bipartisan genocide consensus, but it can’t reach the same critical mass of outrage that happened under Trump.

As far as I’m concerned Democrats who appeal to bipartisanship are fascist collaborators, and collaborators are not a lesser evil.

Don’t get me wrong, but I would also wish for different politics in the USA, but it ain’t realistically happen. So as European I can just hope they don’t vote for that racist narcissistic douchebag Trump. I mean my respect for Americans suffered irreversibly when he got elected in the first place…

Do they mean to say deport themselves? Isn’t America a land of immigrants essentially at this point?

I bet many of these folks have have Irish ancestors who escaped poverty and the famine. That’s like telling people to go back to their poverty-stricken land. Which is impossible considering that climate-change is only creating economic disasters many developing countries.

I say this and will say it again: there are no such thing as illegal immigrants anymore in the face of climate-change.

Seriously, how does “mass deportation now” poll? Even the magic wand version that just magically knows who has legal documents and who doesn’t without major disruption to those with legal status, that can’t have more than 20%-30% approval right? I don’t understand why this would be something they would make signs about.

Edit: well, I was off, the magic wand version gets 51% which at least makes some sense to have signs. Usually you’d have something more popular as a main signpost of your campaign but I guess it’s not insane.

If any pro-deportation voter were to learn exactly what “mass deportation” entailed and actually looked like, they would not only immediately change stance, but they would also question our current system and how much resources we’re spending on chasing individual humans around the country to move them briefly.

They are WWE wrestlemania fans who chant a slogan, paint their faces and repeat the taglines. They don’t even have the most remote ideas or perspectives on what our national infrastructure and policy enforcement look like.

A mass deportation would be the largest, most expensive project we’ve undertaken as a nation, there would be a sacrifice of rights like we’ve never seen, you would have to hire literally a million more agents and give them the power to crawl through anyone’s personal lives, and the infrastructure alone in moving these people around would be a scale that beats our current mass transportation system by miles. Presuming the same powers that formed such overreaching organizations don’t decide to just Holocaust the whole idea and start shipping dark skinned people by train to special camps outside town, and the worst part is there are soup-brained centrists reading this line and rolling their eyes and thinking “Such a thing could never happen in the modern world” from their safe, sheltered lives they assume will never change.
