With America’s amazing track record of spending big on repairs and maintenance to infrastructure, I can see absolutely nothing going wrong with this at all.

Let’s declare a war on bad infrastructure! We can funnel all “War on Y” money in. America First! Let’s reduce unemployment with a huge jobs program. Hire everyone to build tracks, trails, and parks.

Okay forget rails, we put big fucking monster-truck tires on the trains and just crash through the countryside.

One is a passenger train, another is a freight train carrying hazardous materials. The risks are VERY different.

Also, if you’re looking for something to blame for the East Palestine, Ohio, train derailment, look at lax regulations:

Following the derailment, reaction and commentary focused on industry working conditions and safety concerns, including: the lack of modern brake safety regulations,[3] the implementation of precision scheduled railroading (PSR),[4] reduced railway workers per train, and increased train lengths and weight.

I half remember something like that happening in Brazil. The right proposes something the left approves, there’s no fight, they realize their mistake and start opposing their own idea.

Honestly at this point, we should just all fully get behind this tactic as I think it genuinely has a good shot of accomplishing more than taking politics seriously.

The giant, gaping flaw in your idea is that it requires leftists to all rally together and cooperate on a unified plan and actually work together.

You’re describing something very deep, while only touching the surface.

On the left, people are not very forgiving of other leftists, when they cross the line. And if you really cross the line, then we just don’t want you on our team anymore, gtfo.

On the right, it’s like no matter what you’ve done, as long as you fight for the same thing as the others, you can still be on the team. This is why you see artists make a shift to the right, just before a big scandal, they know they will still have a fangroup as long as they share rightwing propoganda.

This is great for the right wing in the short term, but eventually the techbros and the christofascists, and the Nazis will all realize that they don’t really have anything in common, except a desire to rule everything. “But not like that, like this!”

It’s gonna be interesting to see the showdown between all the different fascist groups Trump has under his flag.

Yes, fascism cannibalizes itself. This means that, in the end, fascism always collapses, however, that doesn’t prevent it from doing lots of damage in the meantime

If trump managed to build effective high speed rail that goes coast to coast, hits more than just NYC and LA, and is affordable, I think history would probably end up forgiving him for a lot of shit.

    Never gonna happen though.

Only Arbeit is capitalized and its the only noun.

In german the capitalisation of words sometimes changes the meaning of the:

macht (from the verb machen, to do/make) Macht (as a verb means force/power/might)

I saw this double meaning several times, like the title of an art exibition: Geld Macht Kunst ( money, power, art or money makes art)

Yeah, they would arrest more Latinos without due process and have us build the rail as slave labor (contracted out to their corporate buddies, ofc.)

Or just a quick stop in the valley between Dry Mountain and Saline Peak near Death Valley to “drop off some passengers”.

Fun fact: the train pictured here is a Siemens Velaro. That’s the same family of train as the ICE.

It’s the American Pioneer Edition, the variant for the American market, set to operate Brightline West services, but even that one is based on Velaro Novo, a platform designed 100% in Germany.

        Edit: Velaro Novo for comparison:

200mph is pretty good. That’s 320 kph. IIRC, China’s high speed rail has a max speed of 350kph, often cruising at 300kph.

Bold to assume he would build something for the benefit of the peasant class. Or create something where he cannot profit from financialy.
