Yeah the pattern basically repeats on every information technology:

1. It’s new and kinda buggy / empty.
2. It’s peak now - full of organic content and culture.
3. Commercial entities and astroturfers start to squeeze value.
4. Government entities catch on and start propaganda campaigns and prosecution.
5. Owners start to get overwhelmed and start to extract profit i.e. enshitification

Except these days it’s so accelerated that we barely get to enjoy step 2 :(

Death penalty is entirely up to Supreme People’s Court and has been since CCP took over. It basically means the authoritarians decide which cases are death worthy. But it’s truethere have been some “reforms” that reduced what is death worthy and try to legitimize the system. Either way, all of that is moot in an authoritarian system and it’s silly to pretend otherwise.

Agreed, the cruelty and brutallity of these organizations is something else entirely and this sends a clear message that you will die if you go here. If anyone deserves a death penalty it’s these guys.

I’m generally against death penalty but this is great news. Chinese syndicates in the region are some of the worst people on earth right now and I say this as someone who’s currently based in Thailand and have been paying attention to the scam center issue for years now.

Seems like whatever protection they had within CCP is crumbling due to critical mass reaching the news lately and mostly thanks to strong exposure here by western journalists and pressure from SEA governments. Even CCP could not tolerate this and hopefully this means the end of this truly despicable source of human suffering.

There’s also been some rumors that CCP is directly involved with this as a policy to harm the west and weaken the SEA region which make sense, especially given the authoritarian nature but AFAIK there is no strong evidence here and it might have gotten too high profile either way so it’s very possible that these centers will be defeated soon.

I go to Vietnam at least once a year and Vietnam hates China as it’s really the only security challenge in the region. Cambodia and Laos are buffer zones that will never evolve into anything serious ever and other neighbours are an ocean away. To add, there’s a big cultural clash between Vietnamese and Chinese that is out of scope of this thread.

South-China Sea conflict is literally the biggest brewing issue in the region and you’d be an idiot to say otherwise.

I wonder how Vietnamese feel about their government basically giving 8 billion USD (2% of GDP) to Russia for something they will might not even get and if they do it’ll be inferrior tech to anything else. Su-35 has been a real failure in Ukraine war and widely considered to be objecftively worse than F-16V and Rafale fighters and China’s J-16s which Vietnamese SU-35s would be likely engaging and training for.

I did a bit of research of what are Vietnams fighter options for new class fighters:

• US F-16V - Vietnam already has deals for these and generally agreed that it’s the best option for them aside from unstable US needing to diversify here
• France’s Rafale - Vietnam and France already signed large defence deals and it’s a very good option here too.
• China - no deal at all given that China is the most likely future combatant here for these weapons.

So this seems like a blatant, inexcusable payment to the ruzzies which is such a shame to see. I hope they never see the planes and if they do they fall apart immediately together with the current ruzzi empire.
