Are mosquitoes a concern in that part of the world? If so and they don’t have some nets hiding somewhere you are gonna have a bad time.
We had a mosquito net for night, but they weren’t bad. I was surprised.
…
to see orangutansto feel mosquitosI think I’d really love this.
That’s not a bed. That’s a buffet table for mosquitos.
Shows how much you get out of the United States there’s no way that isn’t covered with mosquito netting
But… There’s none in the pic.
You don’t put them on during day.
That way the mosquitos can sleep.
You think mosquitos give a shit about the time of day?
Depends on the species.
I suppose there are day mosquitos as well, but most come during the evening and night.
Yes, they tend not to come out in the heat, and turn up by the thousands as dusk arrives.
And an open invitation to be robbed, kidnapped or worse
I don’t think this is the United States. So they should be save.
I couldn’t find any locations on Borneo on the list, but KL has a safety index of 39.5 on Numbeo, and Jakarta is 47.4 (higher is safer).
Some US cities for comparison:
NY, NY: 49.3
LA, CA: 46.2
Houston, TX: 36.4
Baltimore, MD: 26.9
So uhhh yeah.
Good thing you have weapons over there
It’s Borneo not Manila.
Might want to get a mosquito net.
Actually provided on board. Ive been to this 3 days 2 night tour. My real highlight was the firefly + star viewing
That’s the least of their worries! They might want to get an orangutan net! They can come right in. That’s an orangutan bed if they wanted it, not their bed.
What if thats the goal?
Do orangutans normally board waterborne vessels?
They’re notoriously fast moving and aggressive

Only if you call them a monkey
I don’t know. They look pretty slow.
Yes

Just don’t call him an ape. Fuuuck!!!
I just did this 3 weeks ago. They give you mosquito nets for the night, and they weren’t that bad anyway. The trip is worth.

Wow, obvious to me some people haven’t been camping before, that or were miserable the entire time. That looks pretty freaking awesome!
It does, but I was immediately thinking that mattress would be soaked as soon as it rained or they have water coming on deck
How was the rain? We’re still in the wet season.
Are you the same guy who posted pictures of Java. I think it was on some train
Yup. Traveled through SE Asia.
You stop by VN?
Yup. Comin’ up.
Sounds like a really fun adventure. Looking forward to more pics!
you sure the orgatans are not the ones who paid to see you?
This is the fucking dream. Would need a mosquito net, obviously, but otherwise this sounds absolutely amazing.
Does anyone have a link to this cruise?
This is the company we went with. The conditions were a bit basic, but the food was awesome and the river was one of the best experiences in my life. https://www.orangutanapplause.com/
How much does a trip like this cost?
Here’s the website. We did a 2 night tour. 2,000,000 IDR per person. I don’t know what country you’re from, but it was $550 Canadian dollars per person. https://www.orangutanapplause.com/
please keep us updated on the conditions of this, its hilarious
Wow!!
100% humidity + bugs + windy. It’s a no from me.
I can smell the mildew from here.
Mildew is happening in enclosed spaces. It’s not going to be the same kinda problem here
There’s an entire ecology between that carpet and the mattress.
checks username
No offense intended.
There’s an entire ecology happening in your mattress, too.
Mites, bacteria, and fungi, oh my!
Also the absolute lack of privacy. It’s like having a Facebook account.
Perfect analogy of what a facebook account really is.
