I used to google my name several times as a teen but not so much now (sounds like that old euphemism). I know my real name is on a couple of publicly available reports and LinkedIn. Never googled my username though, I only ever use this on reddit and Lemmy. I could do with a good purge though

My name is quite unique, and my last job put me and my photos on some online reporting sites, so yeh if you google me you find me!

I try not to publicly put my name anywhere I don’t have to, so my full name has no results. Baku seems to be a pretty common username, so not many personal results there, although I’ve definitely said more here/on Reddit than I should’ve. my Reddit username only has a couple of results, one from a shitty buzzfeed article that exploited my willingness to help a tourist for clicks, and the rest from dodgy reddit mirrors. And my discord username is, well, a discord username. there’s only a single result for it from outside Discord

Yes. I regularly check as I have a unique name so anything is traceable. Socials are locked down. Linked in is up for career purposes, but still relatively locked down. Don’t mind sports results.

My real name is out there unfortunately because I worked on a community project some years ago but you’d need specific information on what I worked on to find it.

I hope your cat will forgive you for your transgression.

I try to be invisible online under my real name. I mostly succeed. It helps that my name is common, so there are lots of hits and none of them are me. If I am ever suddenly a news story, the journos are going to have a hard time finding my Facebook photo (I don’t have Facebook) to steal and put on their sites. 😃

eh…I’m old enough that social media wasn’t really around when I was young and doing stupid things more publicly. Now, my job makes me pretty public anyway, and there are very, very few people in the world with my exact name, so if you google it, only a few of us appear and the most public one is me. All professional pages, though.

I used that Google security function recently which goes off to see where you’re mentioned and it happily said nowhere. I have a blog out there with numerous photos of my face on it but there’s nothing linking my full name to it. I just Googled my name and found my Facebook profile though. This was using my shortened name which I generally use. Searching with my full name has nothing I can see. Weird… my Google account uses my name to post Google reviews and I’ve done a couple but they didn’t show up in a search.

Anyways… feeling pretty ok about my online presence. I know all of my email addresses have been compromised but there isn’t much I can do about that besides keep good MFA security and spam filters on those.

Yeah, unfortunately there’s lots because I have a unique name and was foolish about the internet many years ago. Intrigued by the guy who has me in his thesis thanks. Not a clue who he is!
