Think of it like a video game HUD where there’s just text floating above a person’s head where you see all their political beliefs, including the degree of bigotry (if any), or whether or not the person believes in the use of violence to acheive polical goals, basically every little detail that would accurately depict people’s political beliefs. Your beliefs are also visible to others. This effect has 1KM radius, including people above and below you.
So, how fucked are you?
(Think of all the authorities in your area that can see your beliefs, including the beliefs regarding the recent incident…)
I think if everyone was generally more aware of the details of everyone else’s political beliefs, we’d collectively be much less fucked than we are today.
as an anarchist I wouldn’t do well anywhere
You’d be most welcome at my house.
Hi five, fellow lonely-tarian! I also often joke that my alignments usually make “both major sides” glare at me.
I have heard that they want anarchy in the UK.
They don’t know what they want but they know how to Brexit.
Rojava?
I think a lot of people wouldn’t like me as much as they already don’t.
Oh no, people now will know I am a stoic communist and real socialist even without me plastering my political believes in each discussion even vaguely related to politics or economics.
Nice
I’d say pretty fucked because people with suppressed bigotry who didn’t publicly express those views due to shame, societal expectations etc now have an easy way to find each other as well as their enemies. They’ll also have no more reason to try to hide their intentions. And unfortunately I feel like there might be more of those people than people willing to stand against them.
I’m deep in Trump country. I wouldn’t even feel safe putting a Republicans Against Trump sign outside my house.
I’m in Oklahoma. Considering this question makes me nervous.
Funny. I moved from Oklahoma to California in March. I couldn’t take the idea of raising my daughter there. It’s nice here, I suppose, but I see almost as many trump flags here as I did there. Granted, there are way more people here so it’s only natural they do exist. I just didn’t think they would be so open about it. I’m sure some of that has to do with where in California I’m at, but it made me realize this shit is everywhere. At least, for now, my daughter will have access to what she needs or wants in the event something awful happens or if she decides she’s not who she was born as.
Long story short, these right wing nuts are very much displaying their politics for the world to see, no matter where they are.
Depends who’s looking. Most of the poor and middle class asking with my views, if I don’t say scary words like "communist” and “socialist”; Those with huge incomes might have a problem. And my ex who aligns with my views but votes against them because they somehow think these people care about them.
I’m living on the outskirts of a rural town. People have trump flags flying on my street. I’d be totally fucked.
RIP In Peace
At least you can find out who is a secret liberal or leftist in your area right before you die.
Putting up a lawn sign is about the limit for physical activity for most of that crowd. You’d be fine. Dodge, duck, dip, dive, and and dodge!
Same. I wouldn’t leave the house unarmed.
Not very.
Trans in Ohio? I’m dead
Being Trans is not really a political belief…
Although it will show you as being Pro- LGBT+ Rights, which may make you a target.
They sure like to make it political
I’ve met gay people who aren’t pro LGBTQ+ before, as strange as that is.
People will squint at me trying to figure out a lot. My political beliefs are all over the place. My goal is clear (an egalitarian society that rewards hard work, but ensures a comfortable life for everyone, globally).
But I have absolutely no idea what policies would achieve that.
I’m just sure as shit neither Capitalism nor a state-controlled economy would. Probably leaning towards Anarchism. If authorities could see my beliefs, they could lock me up, cause they’re actually illegal.
Anarchy means local warlords and gangs, BTW. I don’t have any sort of solution; it’s more of a “pick your poison” situation
Perhaps more anarcho syndicalism is what OP means.
I’d be fine, I think. Might find out one or two things about neighbours that they’d rather wasn’t known, but I don’t think there’s anyone who would take great offence at my views, even if they opposed them. And I’ve nothing I’d want to hide.
I actually kind of like this scenario, as a way for people to understand that what they think about something may be far from the majority position.
