Seems like one of the worst options to go for right now considering the current state of things. If the messages sent to Denmark aren’t enough to remove Trump from office then we essentially do not have 3 branches of government anymore.

4·7 days agoPrevious post says it is wildcard at the DNS.
Not really anything a normal user would miss over home premium. Most features in pro and higher target enterprises.
Also, you’ve given an example of ignorance, not stupidity. Stupidity is the desire to cling to ignorance, a refusal to learn.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Cheapest way to back up a *lot* of data?English
9·9 days agoI suggest making a script that uses existing software (ie mkvtoolnix) to extract the dubbed audio and then backing that up and l leaving the high quality video to the Web to backup.
I know it’s less than ideal but you can automate both extracting it and muxing it back in. It may take some effort to setup, but it’s well worth the huge recurring costs incurred from backing up that amount of data.
Just an idea to consider.
Akira Kurosawa is going to dominate this list.
Ikiru,
Seven Samurai,
The Hidden Fortress,There’s just no arguing that those are some of the best films of the 50s.
But there’s also Ben Hur, Vertigo, 12 Angry Men, The 400 Blows, The Seventh Seal, North by Northwest, Strangers on a Train…
How do you choose?

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Cheapest way to back up a *lot* of data?English
15·10 days agoIt’s literally downloading the same amount of data you would be backing up, and you won’t be charged hourly for downloading it from the internet as opposed to a large storage service.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Cheapest way to back up a *lot* of data?English
32·10 days agoIf you back up the modern day Arrs databases then it’s essentially the same thing and already built into the software that will redownload them for you. That’s my solution. I backup my backups of those, of my home assistant, my Immich library, my Nextcloud, etc… Pirated media is, for the most part, out there backed up on several places already.

752·10 days agoHow much of that 50 terabytes is media downloaded from the Internet? Because the cheapest way would be to trust that it’s already backed up on the Internet and then use one of the usual services like B2 by Backblaze or Storagebox by Hetzner to back the rest of it up.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Affordable Raspberry Pi solution for daily Google Slides presentationsEnglish
2·12 days agoA non-hacky solution would be to buy a cheap used mini-pc with an HDMI output. eBay is flush with ones from businesses. You don’t need a ton of horsepower for Google slides. Just make sure the PC is complete and working so you don’t have to buy additional parts. If you can prep a raspberry pi for a Linux install you can do the same with a mini-pc and get more performance for less money.

homeassistant@lemmy.world•Is there a way to remove the autopopulated dashboards from the sidebar? Not per device.English
2·14 days agoIt looks like it’s the default dashboard setting. I think I tuned that off ages ago when it was first created.
I can see though, especially if you’re newer to it and less comfortable with yaml due to all the UI improvements, that it’s a bit of an imposition to figure out why it’s happening and how to turn it off.
The fact that they keep adding stuff without making it easy to turn off is one of those little things that irk me about Home Assistant.

2·14 days agoAre there any power connectors coming from the power supply that do not go to the motherboard?
Those would be your best bet to apply an adapter to as it would not be pulling additional current through the limited motherboard traces.

I would imagine your friends are used to their parents acting older and/or more mature because they are older. He’s probably just a completely different generation from your friends parents.
It’s also common for people who have a child at such a young age to have their maturity stunted. He didn’t get to finish out his youth like his peers so he’s still grasping for it. When his friends were out partying at the age of 21 he was trying to support a toddler.
