  • So much “but trump worst!!” in this thread, oof. Vote for the Biden administration if that’s your only choice, fine. But stop pretending that Biden himself is voteworthy - he’s not, and is hardly capable of functioning normally for 6 hours out of the day at this point. Anyone paying attention for the past year who is engaging in honest good faith, should be able to attest to that.

It would be much better for Biden to step down while there’s still time, if you’re really so terrified of Trump and want to ensure a Republican defeat come November. Those who are pushing for Biden himself to stay in are the real threat to democracy.

Come on Dems, how many times do you have to be taught the lesson of Feinstein and RBG?! For that matter, why are you so insistent on politicians literally working into the grave? It’s a grotesque level of elder abuse, what’s being done to Biden right now. You all should be ashamed.

  • Democratic politicians feel this way because they are mostly friends with their colleagues across the aisle. They all eat at the same luncheons together, hang out at the same establishments in DC, attend the same fundraisers and lobbying events.

I think the voters tend to have a different point of view from those in DC. Consider that even Republican lawmakers were running for their life on Jan6. Dem voters are growing fatigued with the constant gaslighting from the establishment politicians, and hopefully soon might provide cause for their “elected representatives” to flee as well. At this point we’ve been left with painfully few alternatives.

Lastly just want to say I do agree with full treason charges for anyone involved with Jan6. Obstruction was a laughable wrist slap, this is far too serious for such measures. The rioters kind of had the right idea but for literally all of the wrong reasons. It’s tea party republicans all over again (which was funded by Koch bros of course). Instead of addressing this in a serious manner, Dems considered doing nothing at all for 2 years before they finally started bringing the wrong charges. Pathetic.

  • The RNC never intended to run a candidate other than Trump because he controls MAGA, which is what remains of their energized base. The primaries they held were “just in case” Merrick Garland actually did something useful and successfully prosecuted Trump for insurrection, which never came to pass.

The DNC did everything they could to prevent primary elections from occurring in various states, and bullied anyone who was floating a run into submission. This included the state dept making calls to state DNC committees to cancel primaries, or remove certain candidates from their ballots. According to them, it was an insult to Biden admin and their legacy to even suggest another candidate should run. And now look where that’s gotten us.

So no, we didn’t actually vote in primaries this year because the establishment refuses to relinquish the status quo.

  • It is kind of amazing how even those disenfranchised voters will rally to support the hegemony of the “two party” corporatist rule. I suggested recently we could consider rallying behind a single issue 3rd party candidate who would end the legalized bribes and replace FPTP with a more democratic alternative, and was immediately downvoted and told it’s not possible due to FPTP.

  • We are now faced with the fact that tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history, there “is” such a thing as being too late. This is no time for apathy or complacency. This is a time for vigorous and positive action.

Our climate is being destroyed irrevocably, wealth inequality is at record levels, and our corrupt government is completely up for sale and unwilling to represent the people. Corporate-run America is in a death spiral, and geriatric neoliberals are leading the charge. Foreign agents would tell Americans to slowly and steadily continue down this ruinous path as the rest of the world leaves us behind. But red blooded Americans understand how this isn’t sustainable for any length of time. Gradual incrementalism is a far cry from our salvation.
