If you don’t have room for busses now, when will you have room for all the parking required for everyone to drive a car around all the time?

The spider that was just there a second ago 💀
Aw, but all my other bones are so low maintenance.
Mars Attacks! was very poorly marketed. I remember the commercials for it seeming tame and asking my parents to take me to the theater to see it and it fucked me up for a few good weeks. We didn’t even stay to the end, but I had nightmares about it that very same night.
I don’t have anything to add, I just want to say this is a phenomenal question, lol.

I want someone to drink mead out of my skull after I die and absorb my power. This is my fondest wish.

Social media is probably a very poorly or very narrowly defined term. Either they called out Facebook, Reddit, Snapchat, etc by name or they gave some broad description of social media that could apply to everything from Facebook all the way down to somebody’s Vbulletin forum and this will be unenforceable for the vast majority of websites. Compliance is likely voluntary for the little fish in social media. I imagine that they aren’t even aware that Lemmy exists.
Mine is Magic: The Gathering, except I fully realize that I am pulling away from it and why.
The game sparked an immense amount of joy when I picked it up in high school. Now I barely recognize the game anymore. It doesn’t truly have an identity of its own and exists in this permanent state of limbo where 3rd party IPs are taking over the demand for new product and the rules are becoming so bloated that they can’t fit them on cards anymore.
This is such an “old man yelling at clouds” moment for me, because I heard just about every reason under the sun for why people quit the game when I was playing from power creep to changing art styles to just getting priced out of the hobby in general. I realize now that those people were not wrong, they were just not the target audience anymore. I am no longer a profitable demographic to pander to. I never buy packs anymore, and I’ve even stopped buying singles and I don’t attend tournaments or collect anymore, so why would Hasbro/WotC make products for me? Especially when there are deep pocketed whales out there who will pay top dollar for their favorite crossover set, no matter how silly or out of place it might seem.
I wish I could enjoy the game the way I used to, but I just can’t be bothered to hop back in when it doesn’t feel the same anymore.
This is the only word I know of whose meaning can be redefined by majority consensus.
Case in point, my workplace wanted a bi-weekly committee meeting for our team to work on stuff over a zoom call. I asked what days these meetings would be held and they all agreed “Just Thursdays”. When I tried to argue that a bi-weekly meeting necessarily means that there must be two distinct dates per week, they all agreed that bi-weekly obviously means every other Thursday and that I didn’t understand what the word bi-weekly meant 😒
Hearing this word for the first time in the GoT audiobooks was a real surprise to say the least.
Cast thine undivided attention upon me, whelp.
“Women are my favorite guy.”
So true, so true. Google wise.
Everyone I’ve ever known close to my age who was shown that movie at least one time as a kid said that it gave them nightmares, and I have to agree with them. It’s a pretty fucked up movie to show to kids.
Nope, nothing. But he sure does like to talk about what he’s going to do but never about how he’s going to do it, or why he didn’t do it last time.
I got accused of this the other day. Some random on Steam added me because he liked my profile pic. I was bored and decided to humor him. Two sentences in and he’s like “What’s with the ChatGPT sounding responses?”.
I honestly didn’t know how to react to that.
I liked the quote from Dr. Hibbert on the Simpsons:
“You know what they say, whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger!”
“Oh ho ho ho, no… It’s made you weak as a kitten!”
There was always a certain ambiance in Circuit City that I found to be appealing. At least on my local one before it closed down. It was like the lights were dimmed way down, but it was still bright enough to see. I guess you would call that “cool temperature” lighting, which is definitely not fashionable anymore. Everything nowadays seems to follow Apple’s store design which is this sterile eggshell white, bathed in neutral or warm temperature lighting. I find it kind of boring, but I understand why they do it that way.
Plus, I loved how instantly recognizable their old stores were. The big red block turned at an angle for an entrance was brilliant imo. They used it a lot in their television commercials and made it look like a plug end or a battery coming down from the sky.
