Dentist done for now. But I have to find somewhere that will take all of my wisdom teeth out at once, and preferably so full general anaesthetic. They suggested the dental hospital because they’ll do it for either free or cheap, but it’s a very long waitlist, and I won’t get in to see anyone until I’m a full adult with full adult responsibilities. I’d rather do it now when there’s people around to help me, and I can just not speak for a week with no issues

They suggested a low cost but private clinic in the east somewhere, but she said she would have to call to see what anaesthetic they can do. Apparently they also only accept referrals for certain procedures

Cost isn’t too big of an issue, since it’s not on my dime for the next 6 months. Part of the reason I want it sorted ASAP

Western Special Needs Dentistry might suit you. They’re very very good with people with sensory issues around teeth and in general.

It’s not a sensory issue, it’s just not exciting to have 4 teeth pulled while fully awake

I’m not sure if the Melb Uni training school does full anaesthesia, but worth a look. Wherever you go make sure you get more than one ice pack!

Ballarat vs Walhalla for tomorrow’s weather (disregarding travel times) - Ballarat better?

Ballarat. The wildlife park. Sovereign Hill. Ballarat Vintage & collectionables market. Kylal Castle. So much to do.

Miserable weather for either. I would honestly stay home instead of a trip tomorrow, but if forced out I would choose Ballarat. It will be a touch colder in Ballarat, but the road in Walhalla can be a bit dangerous and I wouldn’t want to be driving through there in a storm.

Ikea sent my stuff in a big box. With a cut out door and window and roof peep hole it will make an excellent cat play house for Bill and Ted. 😸😸

Has anyone ever replaced the plastic chain on rollerblinds? I have one here that was broken when I bought the house and looking to finally replace it.

I watched Alien 3 last night and it’s a good movie. I think it suffered from two things: -All the production problems before and during the shoot -Being called Alien 3 and being the direct followup to Aliens

It could have worked as its own movie or as an Alien spinoff. I think people were so upset about how it undoes the ending of Aliens that it coloured their opinion on the rest of the movie.

One small nitpick though, and I can probably explain it; the Alien knew Ripley was carrying the Queen and that’s why it wouldn’t attack her. Why wouldn’t the Alien just plaster her to a wall up in the air ducts until the Queen hatched? It was probably wasn’t considered because the Alien was meant to be smaller than normal, having come from an animal. Production problems meant it kept changing size, and whilst the movie has a man sized Alien pulling people into air vents, that could have been part of the rewrites done during the shoot and wasn’t scoped into the larger story.

The studio fucked around with Fincher so much that it affected the outcome of the product. We all know how good Fincher is and, personally I look past the interference and enjoy the movie on its own terms I guess.

I have read the Cadigan/Gibson screenplay also and would love to see that on the big screen.

I dunno if you’re still on Reddit, but, r/LV426 loves to talk about this stuff

I came across r/LV426 looking for the screenplay. I don’t really go on reddit anymore but I might sub anyway.

I think it’s so funny they picked Fincher when they wanted the movie made as quickly as possible. He was less of a known quantity then but he’s up there with Kubrick in terms of how many takes he’s willing to do for a scene.

I loved the very Fincher cam at the end of the Alien’s POV. It’s a great cheap way to get that feeling of terror without needed to have the Alien on screen like a trick Carpenter would have used in an early movie

Had a dream that I was working with “good” vampires to catch “bad” vampires, but the bad vamps could make themselves look like the good ones. But I think my little old dog could smell the difference. Hmm.
