    Many correlations are a chicken & egg situation. We don’t know if what we’re measuring is the cause or the result of whatever we’re studying.

    Maybe people with a genetic disposition towards autism process acetaminophen differently.

    Maybe people who grew up with access to acetaminophen also grew up in the vicinity of some other environmental factor that also shares a positive correlation with acetaminophen.

    There are plenty of potential explanations that aren’t a causal link between acetaminophen consumption and autism.
