I’d like to make a move but not sure if he would be open to that… It seemed so but how can I gauge his interest?

Not expecting anything serious.

More info: He was my driving instructor. I’m 26 and he’s 51.

On the day of my driving test he caught me looking at him twice, from across the place. He seemed surprised for a sec and then nodded to me both times. Then it felt as if he started orbiting around me, paying me more attention…When looking at him I was realizing I had a crush on him haha just to give you an idea.

By the end he chose to make me go last for the test. Did not expect that cause yes, I was nervous but I’m a really good driver, while the other guy was like 18 and idk I think more in need…? Then he gave me a ride home and explained it was so I could avoid traffic and stuff…

Then he said “it was a way to protect you” twice, both times as if uncertain of it but it felt like too much and not spontaneous. Again, I was nervous but would have done great anyway. “Protection” seemed so out of place, is it just me?

    Oh, honey, no.

I deleted paragraphs of advice because you’ve made up your mind and you’re not actually looking for counsel.

Just know a 25 year age difference is a lot. It may work but statistically it is a terrible idea. What do you have in common aside from the class where he had authority over you? No need to answer, just think about it.

It’s a common “way out” for the older person. That way he can stay kind and polite and does not need to refuse you openly.

So I would interpret it: he noticed your move but he is not interested.

I don’t get it. What was my move? cause apart form looking at him in the beginning I kept to myself for hours haha That’s why I think he was trying to “go there”, play on my hidden attraction towards him to see how I’d react. Also “protection” is far more romantic than saying “i was helping you”. Strictly professional would have been his way out.

        What was my move?

Well, I was not there and didn’t see it, but from your story I’d say you glowed at him, hot like a bright red charcoal :)

Apparently it’s a very common thing to fall in love with the driving instructor. Whatever hints you see, it’s just your imagination. Girl, you’re just lonely… snap out of it before you hurt yourself.

It’s such a common thing, that he surely knows about it and you’re not the first one.

If he knows and I’m not the first one it doesn’t bother me at all, actually it makes me want that even more hahah I’m not planning our wedding

You’re both adults, once you’re done with the training, invite them out for coffee something non-committal and then you can explore it from there if they accept.

Because they’re driving instructor, they’ve been looking at your mood, and they may have interpreted your romantic attention for nervousness. So I wouldn’t worry too much about the protection comment

There’s also the possibility of him seeing you in a daughter-like way or just being genuinely nice. But who knows? Only he does it seems.

mh I don’t think he would have phrased it that way nor would have said it twice unasked, had my father been there. or anyone else. The examinator for example.
