I honestly don’t see how the average working class adult find that time. I feel like gaming is a luxury for rich/middle-class teens.

Yes, with no kids. But because time is limited, it can easily become all you do with your free time.

I don’t have a job right now, so yes. Although mostly not more than few hours per week, since I have better things to do, and it have recently started to feel like I am wasting my life when playing them.

As long as they inspire you, relax you, give you room to breathe, etc., you’re not wasting your life — and anyone who pushes that propaganda is either full of shit themselves or benefiting from your distress (or both).

We are not our jobs. We are our own selves, and deserve the time to create entire worlds in our minds. 🤘🏼

I don’t play a dedicated video game setup, but I do play a merge game on my phone that’s endless that I can whip out and do anywhere.

I’ve decided that gaming is my top solo hobby, so I dedicate the appropriate time to it. On most days, I can get a solid hour in, sometimes 2 if I’m caught up or ahead on errands and making food.

I work from home so I can play a round or two of my fave shooters to break the monotony in the middle of my work day. Then around two hours after work.

My wife and I have no kids, and plan to keep it that way, so we have plenty of time to play video games together several times a week.

Yes but not as much as I used to. Please bring back cheat codes and easy difficulty mode so I can actually play these things without having to grind hours of my life away.

There must a lot of old games which you still haven’t played or a hell lot of indie ganes, where you don’t actually need to grind to enjoy the game.

One of the reasons I prefer playing on PC over other platforms is there’s usually fan made mods / cheats. Like, yeah, I could do something really tedious for four hours, or I could get a mod to skip it. This is my leisure activity, not an exam.

I try to be mindful that too much cheating can water down the experience. Like, if I was playing BG3 and just set everyone to max level from the start, I would probably have less fun, personally. But if someone just wants to do the story and have fun with exploding barrels? Not for me to judge.

(I do draw the line at multiplayer. Cheating against other people is rude as heck. )

I’m just going to throw this out there- If you’re playing a single player game on PC, and don’t mind robbing yourself of the games intended challenge, then there’s nothing wrong with modding or even fudging data values through something like CheatEngine or save editors.

Example: there’s a reason that a lot of pro nuzlocke players use infinite rare candies instead of spending hours grinding up a leftover box Pokemon that’s still level 12 at a level 50 gym.

Sure, some people online are going to frown on it, but fuck 'em. It’s your free time to spend how you choose.

Yes, pretty much every evening after 8 or 9 I have time to play games. I need my unwind time. I can’t always find something I feel like playing though.

As an adult with a family: Yes, but nothing like when I was younger. The biggest shift for me primarily was to games that are not competitive or multiplayer.

I can’t do the 25-60 minute intense gaming sessions with or against other players. I have to be able to stop everything I am doing at a moment’s notice. I feel bad having to drop on people.

Also I can’t do the FPS games now because I’m old and my eyes just can’t anymore.

I’ve had a knee injury the past 3 weeks and counting so I’ve not been able to do much of anything else, so I’d say yes.

Obviously, yes is the answer. Partners and kids don’t prevent you from doing anything. Hell, your partner might play with you and the kids might watch.

Only problem is that kids learn “mine” before they learn “I can’t pause Dark Souls, let me get to a safe spot and I’ll refill the goldfish, I don’t want to lose these… Damnit.”
