This PC is top of the line. You can go down in specs and have a great 1440p gaming experience.
You could probably go with a 7600 normal or X3D, 32GB ram, and a 6800XT, which might be better fitting spec wise.
Just over $2,600 for the US people so you can compare. No idea what the markups are on computer parts in Romania.
I think a good computer could be built for a better price and with known maker components.
Yeah at $2600 is way overpriced for this pc (based on US prices). A lot of the time the market for pc parts overseas is insane
I used to live in the US and now live in the EU
PC parts are expensive as hell everywhere here. One of the things that is tempting to buy on a vacation in the US and toss in a suitcase
You better come around quick then, before tarrifs make all of our chips 100% more expensive.
Yeah let me timestamp this comment with 2024 and say that I’m ready for it to be worse everywhere. Yay!
Noting to add to the computer purchase but I agree with others, buy the parts and build it with your son. It creates a feeling of ‘mine’ and is a perfect bonding opportunity. Also the suggestion to let your son pick out the parts himself is good
Many Lemmings here are talking about how you can save money by buying the parts individually. That’s definitely correct, but I also want to mention that the specs that you chose are nearly the latest and greatest that you can get today. Depending on the games that your son plays/wishes to play, this might be an overkill build. Will you also be getting a high refresh rate and/or 4K monitor to even be able to use that RX 7900XTX at its full potential? Most PC gamers don’t have anywhere near the power of this build, and can still enjoy playing games on it just as much. If, however, you just want the best thing that money can buy AND something with potential for an upgrade in the future, I don’t have anything to say against this build.
P.S. If you bought the parts separately, your son can assemble them himself. I know from personal experience that it’s very fun to see your work come to life.
Its not even true anymore you get way better deals with half off or more sales that are fairly frequent. You can sometimed get a solid pc with a part for near the price of a part
Yeah, during the GPU shortage of '20/'21, I ended up buying a prebuilt so I could at least get the GPU at RETAIL price. It was at a time when flipping GPUs on ebay was all the rage and you’d be paying 25%-100% more than it was worth to a scalper.
The system integrators get a better price on parts than we do, and now many of them are selling them for less or precisely the retail price of all the components. You really have to shop around though, some “premium boutiques” like Maingear can be 50-100% more expensive than the competition… They’re selling the same product so I don’t really see the value they bring at that price, but I’m sure as hell not paying $2,000 for their tech support.
No these specs are not good, it comes with Windows 11.
Other than that, I have pretty much the same specs on my computer
You’re looking at spending USD $2500 which is quite a lot.
Building your own is a much better option and you can make a VERY good PC for that budget. I understand though that it’s not easy to research this stuff if you are not familiar. Maybe if your son likes gaming offer to let him research and pick his own parts and you will pay for it? It will also make it feel like it’s truly his own.
Might be even cheaper if you wait a bit and build it yourself. Next gen GPUs are coming out, which will lead to some price cuts on the current gen.
However, like others here have mentioned, you’re paying extra for them building it for you and warranty.
I don’t know if ro.pcpartpicker.com works well for Romania, but you can also give that a try and see what the individual components would net you on the local market.
Building the computer yourself along with your kid could also be a nice opportunity to teach him (and maybe yourself, if you’re not that knowledgeable) about the underlying components.
Personally, I don’t think 64gb of ram is necessary, unless you have millions of browser tabs open. And if that is four sticks of 16gb, you will be losing performance as well, two sticks of 16gb will be faster. Other than that, pretty ok specs wise, should handle most AAA games at 1440p, if not 4K.
Starcitizen is the only game i can think of that requires more than 32.
Cities Skylines with a thousand or so assets can need more than 32 as well.
Imo 16GB is a bare minimum today, i always recommend 32GB which is what i use myself. I agree 64GB is a bit overkill but the price for a prebuilt is good and the specs are banger.
It’s 2 x 32.
That’s fine if you want to over kill on ram. The frequency is also a bit low, I think ryzen likes 6000MHz better. Might pay the same but have much better performance for 16gb x2 @ 6000MHz.
You could also get away with 4x8GB that will double the speed instead of spending the money on total capacity.
Yes. The graphics card in particular is one of the best on the market and the same one I have. It’s also a decent price when converted to Canadian Dollars.
For the Americans in the audience- 12,750 Romanian Leu (RON) equals 2,673.13 United States Dollar (USD)
It’s cheaper to build one yourself with these specs, but yes, it’s a fine PC for gaming.
Not everyone knows how to build a PC
Nobody knew at first. Until they tried it for the first time.
It’s not so much about knowledge nowadays, but about convenience.
If OP can’t be arsed and just wants a prebuilt and be done with it, that’s entirely up to them. But as I said, if they are willing and able, they can get much more out of it.
Absolutely agreed.
No idea what the branding is or any warranty on those parts, if any. I’m building a mid-tier/budget PC right now and the market is flooded with (knockoff? Not sure what to call them. Just cheap parts with bizarre maker names) and you need to sift through a lot of junk to find more trusted brands.
For decent parts, though, it’s still not cheap to build a good gaming PC. Mot of the standard manufacturers are still there - EVGA, Asus, MSi, Corsair, etc. This is the third computer I’ve built in the last 6 months and the price fluctuations are all over the place as well as even the quality for well known brands.
Plus I’ve seen too many pre built horror stories…
Yeah good point, let me edit my comment
If you choose to build one, I think people at [email protected] will be willing to help.
This is a good reference for comparing parts: https://pcpartpicker.com/
Plus, building the PC with your son could be a very exciting teaching experience for him.
