With a DVR you haven’t had to watch a commercial on TV/cable in over 20 years. Streaming is bringing unskippable ads and surveillance. The internet is making things worse, not better.

I’ll use it for now while it’s good and ditch it if/when it enshittifies just as I ditched Reddit and Twitter. The mistake I won’t repeat is relying on it. If I have to bail, it won’t be difficult this time.

I’m attracted to femininity, first and foremost. Femininity is a requirement, and it’s not flexible. But then there are other more flexible preferences about specific appearance or personality details I might like in a woman.

I’m fundamentally attracted to women and turned off by men. It’s the simplest way to describe my sexual orientation. The fact that I’m not attracted to all women doesn’t change that.

I’m not going to start being an asshole out of nowhere but I will go after an asshole and tear them apart. I will never be mean or rude to someone who seems nice. And of course I won’t make fun of someone’s looks or weight or gender or race. But I do make a lot of jokes on other topics and people probably perceive me as rude sometimes when I don’t intend it. I don’t think it’s wrong to be a looser version of yourself here than in real life. Within reason.

It was 13 years ago but I still can’t forget the typo.

A friend posted a link to something and mentioned me saying “you’re hyper literal brain will like this” and when I got done being annoyed about the typo I realized for the first time I am excessively literal.

Another time at lunch with a friend she mentioned in an offhand way that I have anxiety and that was when I first realized what anxiety is and that it’s not normal to feel the way I do all the time.

We need to communicate our sexual identity clearly at a high level because we all need to work out with each other who can date or fuck who.

We don’t have as much practical reason to know each other’s specific experience with autism right away. And if you are close to someone and need to understand their autism at a lower level, their personal situation is more complicated than being one of five or six types.

And if you do need to understand someone’s sexuality at a low level, it could also be more complicated and individualized than just being one letter. But knowing that one letter with sexuality helps as a start.

My computer is a plex server, a homeassistant server, it runs cron jobs, there’s a web server with some automation and browsing utilities I use throughout the day. It’s on 24/7, doesn’t sleep.

Probably right, but at least my watch history is all attached to a throwaway email address I use for it.

It’s largely the same because we started out with mostly enthusiasts doing it in semi hidden places. Then it was mainstreamed and became too easy for casuals to do out in the open. So laws and enforcement caught up and now it’s most effective again if you know your way around, which most casuals won’t if they can afford a few streaming services.

One big change is no longer having to burn any media, you download something then it’s on plex and you can watch it instantly.

If I could bring anything back from the 90s it would be a big selection of games, movies, tv, music, and books that I actually care enough to consume. There’s hardly anything worth downloading anymore.

My 15k deleted comments across multiple accounts are still gone. But I used my own Python script and it was about 6 months before the drama started and lots of people were doing it.
