My god Lemmy has a lot of “this doesn’t work, here’s the workaround” moments.
Can’t natively search for content.
Can’t create communities on other instances.
Can’t browse local of other instances.
Look, I get the appeal of a decentralized reddit…but MAN are there a lot of rough edges to work out before this platform will ever be anything more than “kinda like reddit, but for linux users”.
Also not being able to do stuff to other instances is expected? Why would instance hosts want a rando from anywhere on the network to make communities on their instance?
Although this adds to the problem of centralisation, so if you want to try another general instance:
