Well Australians, likely but not necessarily some sort of government or military entity, supplies the bombs to Indonesia who uses them against Papau New Guinea, and this is well documented that those people are being massacred so I don’t appreciate your dismissive attitude, frankly.
Oh, you mean Indonesia and West Papua. Yeah, sorry for the dismissiveness, but I read a lot of crazy geopolitics theories on Lemmy.
I don’t think that’s the same, actually. That’s a brown place where, according to the Western psychology, atrocities are allowed to happen. Ukraine is not, and that’s why every other reasonable lever has been pulled against Russia. It’s strange to me that they gouged every industry that relies on oil before the machine tool industry.
Why, do you want western intervention in West Papua? I mean, I see this with Venezuela too. If we care, we are hypocrites, if we don’t, we don’t care about human rights, if we care about Ukraine (right on top of EU borders), we are racists, because we only care about “white people”…if we talk about anything outside the western world like Mali…it’s imperialism 🤐 . What about Haiti? What about Sudan? What about Houthis? What about Myanmar? Always with the context-free whataboutism. So, what is it? Is there a world police or are there things you leave to the locals to sort out on their own?
I’ll be honest, it’s not a conflict I’ve followed closely either. Direct Western interventions usually go poorly, though. Arguably because we don’t care enough to expose our own people to the risks our allies have to face. All Afghans saw was a giant bunker with a loudspeaker that belted out (broken?) Pashtu about something called “human rights”. Not very convincing.
I’m not sure what your position is. Mine is that the world is full of political bullshit and I’m a nobody, so I do whatever small thing I can to make it suck incrementally less. Explaining why freaking out over 9/11 is dumb when that many people die of worms or whatever each year is part of it. If I was in charge I’d be all about multilateralism and transferring wealth aggressively to the third world where their institutions are strong enough to accept it, but I’m not.
The people talking about “imperialism” in a non-historical context tend to be full of shit. I advise you to not take them too seriously; normal people use different words now that the actual empires are all dead (minus Russia, sort of). The people talking interventionism are almost non-existent post-Afghanistan.
My position is simply that no other conflict in the world, including Gaza, can be compared in priority to something that is happening at the scale and in your borders like Ukraine, like you happened to suggest.
I mean, show me: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ongoing_armed_conflicts in this map, which conflicts do you consider useful/ethical/moral/whatever to put in the news or send UN troops to and which ones do you consider “dumb” and ok to ignore?
Their team collected evidence and confronted Thales regional deputy chairmen with the evidence. It’s a primary source. Their main presenter you complained about isn’t even in the entire segment of that timestamp onwards.
Same reason Germany still supplies air to surface firebombs that Australians use on Papau New Guineas.
Use present tense? WTF are you talking about. Those countries are not at war, and actually have quite active diplomatic relations.

Fuck I hate friendlyjordies. How someone so consistently sounds like a smug, condescending twat is beyond me.
