It sounds like he’s saying his wife is still traumatized from her work experience in the Philippines.
Employers will treat you as poorly as you’re willing to accept. My privilege is my belief that I’m not of a lower caste.
If you’re a wage slave in an at will employment state you kind of are de facto lower caste though.
