You’re compiling from source. Not average unless you’re in a see of gentoo
Also what’s your specs, 6GB RAM?
Also you can ask rustc to use less cores, just takes longer…
The program I’m installing (rustdesk) has a pre-compiled version but it’s not working for me on Wayland, that’s why I’m trying to compile from source to see if it work yeah that’s not average experience because most Linux’s programs nowadays already have a pre-compiled version but if the pre-compiled not working the next best thing is to try to compile it yourself, my ram is 8GB 2GB is for the GPU and it’s not upgradeable
It helps not having a computer with specs from a decade ago.
Update: It’s working now, it giving me “failed to create capturer before”
If you don’t compile everything from source, you may as well buy a Chromebook.
I wouldn’t call compiling from source the average experience these days.
Most software is gonna be in the distro repositories or as a flatpak/snap/appimage.
Unless you use Gentoo of course
Sure, if you call that average. ;)
This time I’m trying to use Linux without relying on Flatpak or AppImage, why? I don’t know XD
Or your distros repositories? I just think OP calling this “average” sends a bad message - I didn’t compile much stuff from source in 2007, and I don’t now either.

AUR.
But most programs compile within 2 minutes on my shitty laptop anyway. And it’s automated.
So?
What’s the story here?
Look at my rice
This guy get it XD
Boh, my average experience is “apt install foo”. Let’s not perpetuate myths.
