A majority in the lower house of the Dutch parliament wants the Netherlands to follow the United States’ lead and designate the far-left Antifa movement as a terrorist organization.

Just to make it clear, this is a historical picture of antifa:

To be even more clear, that’s a picture of the US Navy supporting the US Army (alongside the Royal Navy and various British Commonwealth armies) in a massive amphibious landing on Normandy Beach in Nazi-occupied France, which opened the land phase of the Western Font of the Second World War, ultimately concluding in the utter destruction of the fascist Nazi regime in Germany.

So, just to make sure everyone’s listening this time, Netherlands: tell me why “antifa” is bad.

Because a non-negligible number of your neighbors are voting for populist and far-right candidates. These people have support.

100,000 people showed up for a far-right rally in London last week. Bolsonaro is just now seeing some kind of punishment for his actions in Brazil.

It’s never really been a U.S.-only thing, sadly, the U.S. has just captured the zeitgeist for the past several years.

The source is not trustworthy. There’s a good chance this article is an outright fabrication.

Just read the other headlines. They are very typical content for publications made by Russian troll farms.

Same. Gonna find an antifascist group to join. I’ll happily go to jail to stick two fingers up at the snowflake Nazis

I bet the leaders and board members of antifa are shaking in their shoes right now.

Yes, the Netherlands also let far-right populism into their government.

But they cannot just do it by presidential decree; there’s a process and personally I doubt that the Dutch AFA will meet the criteria.

Here’s a translated excerpt from their wikipedia page:

A report from the National Coordinator for the fight against Terrorism and Security (NCTV) from March 2016 stated that AFA counter -demonstrations against Pegida could be accompanied by violence, but that there are no indications for left -wing radical terrorism.

Thanks for helping us out with PEGIDA btw ✊

Looks like the Dutch have a fascism problem. They should do ((something)) about it. By that I mean kill the perpetrators… with kindness! Absolutely obliterate them… with love! Give them the old French aristocracy treatment… the finest serving of cake!

Huh I wonder about the dynamics of the vote here, I imagine the left center parties were hijacked by conservative aristocrats like in the rest of the west.

Those supposed left center lawmakers are very opposed to the actual left and see their reason for being as freezing out any reform minded ideas or candidates that could retake the privellage granted the aristocracy these last decades.

Sounds like they need some new leadership at their parties, not understanding nazis will not be good for the country or themselves is a dealbreaker with voters

It was voted for by 6 parties, all of which are considered right wing.

      • PVV (right wing anti immigration party)
      • VVD (fiscal conservative right wing party)
      • BBB (conservative farmers’ lobby party)
      • SGP (right wing conservative christian party)
      • FvD (right wing QAnon-type conspiracy party)
      • JA21 (split-off of FVD)

You could of course argue that this means the center has shifted, and some of these should be considered center. Personally I think it’s just that immigration has been the dominant theme for decades now, and therefor people who would benefit from left-wing economics, now vote extreme right. I don’t think that makes them or anybody else a center.

Off subject though it may be, the left in Europe totally sucks. They should be threatening to seize power not the third most popular in any election. We need all new leadership at every level of organization business and government, and the left wing political parties in Europe are no exception.

Channeling the anger of Voters to its proper source is not a very difficult thing to do.

    This is weird.

And probably not true. The site the article is from has the style used by Russian troll farms. The article is most likely 95% fabricated, with a kernel of truth, such as maybe one MP in the parliament having suggested that.

The largest political part in the last election is the populist PVV. It’s lead by “Geert Wilders” who blames everything on foreigners. The 3rd largest party, the VVD has gone full populist (more than before) now after their previous leader Mark Rutte left, although they’ve hit a bit of a snag after their new leader called a famous Dutch singer of being a antisemitist because he refused to sing at a place with Zionist posters. This backfired because this is somehow their only recent scandal that people care about.

It’s a mess, the coalition hasn’t been able to get much done due to infighting and election season is coming up, so there are going to be a bunch of right-wing populist proposals purely for optics just like this one.
