In theory yes, but there is generally a 90 day (could be different but this is most common) waiting period before payments kick in - and it’s not backdated. So it’s really only useful if it’s an extended absence, and you have enough to get by for a few months without income
Turns out I have income protection insurance through super. That should help a lot.
That’s only if you’re off due to injury or illness, doesn’t protect you from unrelated job loss
You can buy insurance from being made redundant, but it’s bloody expensive.
Noted for the future. Will definitely be looking into more comprehensive income protection in the future.
I’ve never seen the value in it personally, but I work in a field where you can usually get a job.
