Yeah people are saying “Too bad he missed!” They don’t realize that the real problem isn’t Trump, It’s his cult of millions. The best way this shakes out is for him to lose the election and his relevancy. Then for him to quietly die of old age.

I think you’re forgetting what already happened with Ron DeSantis. Without the real Trump to shut them down, his potential successors will come out of the woodwork drooling at the sight of his empty throne.

While there isn’t anyone who has the charisma of Trump as far as I can tell, he has a cult of personality, and carefully exploited it could serve R for decades, regardless of the leader.

Appointing Trump posthumously as chairman for eternity would be very in character for the present day Republicans.

Just because the crazies already existed doesn’t make it good/neutral to encourage, unite, and embolden them.

No. Hard disagree. Trump is a classic cult of personality. They flock to him for his bombastic rhetoric and his hateful “no holds barred” speech. (can you say beerhall putsch boys and girls?

You take the personality out of the cult of personality, it folds. Maybe not right away, but it folds.

Making him a martyr would only matter if his followers, or his own ideals, stood for anything at all. But they (and his ideas) don’t. They’re just rabid dogs who enjoy someone who dares to say the quiet part loud. Once that’s gone, they’re effectively cowards with no direction.

Have to agree with this, and the simple reason is this - who does Trump have on his side that he will pass the torch to?

No one. There are other grifters on side, but he’s not endorsed anyone younger to be the future of “his” movement. Arguably, a Trump loss would absolutely ruin the Republican party because so much of its attention has been on Trump and his cronies, instead of who has the presence to lead in 5 years time.

In this event, do you really think that once Trump has served two terms that he will realistically endorse someone? No, it’s all about him. MAGA lives and dies with him, and any attempt to take over what he started would likely have Trump disowning or clowning them as not being on his level.

And you think they’ll just quietly pack up and leave once Trump is gone? All that power is going to be just left on the table? No one’s going to capitalize on being bombastic and saying the quiet part out loud to sit on the throne themselves?

I think they’ll try. But Trump supporters are loyal to one man…Trump.

The closest analogy would be Mussolini. (The fuckers even stand similarly and use the same mannerisms).

How long did Mussolini’s cult last after he was dragged into the street and shot? How long did it take his last supporters to vanish like cowards as soon as he was longer up on the balcony in a building with his face on it thumping his chest.

          Trump is no different.
