I started my kitchen renovation three years ago by taking down the old cabinets. Then I realized that I had put the new shelves up half an inch from their ideal position, and fixing that would require taking them all down. I have had no cabinets for three years. I also had tools all over my kitchen for two of those years, but then I finally gave up and put them away.
Currently have tools all over my kitchen for the past year too. Don’t even have a kitchen project im ignoring! Just a bunch of other random stuff getting ignored instead :/
Floor replacement is one of the few major projects I finished quickly. In one room I tore out even the old subfloor (you could fall into the basement) and for some reason I really enjoyed the process of putting a new floor in. Take a look at this wide-plank pine. (Old-fashioned but appropriate for a rustic location.) Isn’t it gorgeous?
That’s off-topic but I couldn’t resist showing off. Sometimes I’m still sad that I had to sell that house.
P.S. If I was doing the renovation now, I’d paint the walls a richer color to go with the dark-brown trim.
I kind of love it. I’d paint the walls a blue green to help balance the yellow of the wood. That’s what I did in my kitchen. Here’s an award photo of the colors, cropped to hide the mess of my kitchen.
Also, the previous painters were messy. I taped off the cabinets.
.
I wasn’t the biggest fan of how it turned out but I didn’t dislike it either.
These are photos the real estate agent used for the listing when selling the house. That’s why they’re all taken using a lens that makes every room look like a long hallway.

I’m only exaggerating a little.

I tore the floor off from our hall a year ago to fix a hole under the floor material and replace the laminate. Still pending.
Two years ago I painted the toilet and the door frame is still missing the moulding.
We renovated the kitchen 4 years ago and it’s missing all the moulding as well.

Looks real nice! Well done!
