If he ever did the right thing, or told the truth, I would be shocked, and I would be happy, and I would give him credit. It’s a pretty fucking low bar for praise, but here we are. But neither of those things have ever happened in his entire miserable life, so here we are. As president he has done nothing, not a damned thing worthy of praise. Nothing.

Well this is what I mean. Either what he did is not good or if it is, he didn’t have any meaningful part in it.
Very few things are all good or all bad but I see this as a net-positive thing, or for the very least, step in the right direction.
I hate Trump as much as the next person, and virtually all the pandemic response was a shit show from the White House, but operation warp speed proved to be an actual good thing during a terrible time. It’s very impressive we developed a vaccine so quickly and got us out of the pandemic faster because of it. It’s kinda funny how one of his best accomplishments is the only thing his supporters will boo him about, and he largely can’t take the credit for because of the backlash.
He tried to scalp German scientists to produce a vaccine here in the USA, so that he would have full control over it, and get to decide who profits. That would have set progress back by months or years had he been successful. He delayed development of a vaccine by refusing to acknowledge a pandemic even existed, claiming it was a Democrat hoax. The dude isn’t responsible for any rapid vaccine development, he’s responsible for delays. But in typical trump fashion, he gets all the praise, but none of the responsibility.
None of Trumps picks can successfully administer the departments they’ve been put in charge of. If he thought a person could actually run anything anywhere but into the ground they wouldn’t have been chosen in the first place. Trump’s goal is bedlam, every decision made, ever decision differed, chaos, all the time, every where, so he can do whatever he likes, with everyone so distracted by the failure of every institution, there’s no time to organize to even attempt to hold his government accountable in any way. And he’s got the house, senate and supreme court, just to make sure.

Commenting as a radio amateur. Carr is a proponent of handing over any and all public use frequency bands to corporations. This may not be relevant to most people, but it’s one more little “fuck you” to the American public.

I know very little about the amateur radio scene and don’t quite understand the impact this would have.
When I lived in a Western US state, there was some bad weather and a child went missing. The amateur radio community heavily overlapped with first responders and search & rescue types. Completely on their own, they organized and managed a search, mustering hundreds of people efficiently, while keeping local law enforcement in the loop. Law enforcement simply didn’t have the resources and relied on this volunteer hobbyist community for situations like this.
If public frequencies are turned over to corporations, would that eliminate the ability for such a volunteer effort to spring up? Would they have to pay for frequency access and be subject to whatever limits and censorship some corporation inflicts?
Yes, the goal is for corporations to profit from everything. So either the corpos will own the bands and sell access rights licenses, or they’ll just hoard the bands for some possible future use and these communities will die, or go underground, committing crimes just to help people.
Edit: I guess another possibility is that the corporations own the bands and then allow temporary access during emergencies, so they get full credit and free advertising for the rescue efforts of amateur volunteers.
Under corporate ownership, I imagine that scenario would have gone more like:
