I completely agree. There are some killer AI apps, but why should AI run on my OS? Recall is a complete disaster of a product and I hope it doesn’t see the light of day, but I’ve no doubt that there’s a place for AI on the PC.

Whatever application there is in AI at the OS level, it needs to be a trustless system that the user has complete control of. I’d be all for an Open source AI running at that level, but Microsoft is not going to do that because they want to ensure that they control your OS data.

Distrotube hits hard. I remember the video showing everyone his collection of increasingly larger guns was the checkout moment for me. Even saying one of them was great for kids. As a non American maybe I just don’t get it.

Boogie2988. I thought he seemed like a reasonable, unbiased person when I was watching around 2016. Kind of just moved on with my life after realising he was just following YouTube drama.

Have checked him out in the last year or so and it’s not looking good for him. The really sad thing is that he could have just taken his money and lived a chill life, but he seems to want a spotlight and to feel important even if it’s because people are shaming him for being a washed up b list youtuber.

It’s hard to get an apprenticeship to become one in Australia after your mid twenties. I’ve heard it’s because your pay has to be a fair bit higher than the kids just out of school, so they’d rather train a teenager.

Oh yeah, we’re not at the sweet spot for mass yet. 10 times bigger would still be fine IMO!

Reddit is worse because of its size, resulting in problems with spam/low effort posts and comments.

This smaller size is a bit of a double-edged sword though. If I want to discuss cooking/chef knives with people, for example, there isn’t a niche community specifically for that topic. Maybe in this way it’s best for people to head outside of Lemmy to other forums for more specific interests, and Lemmy can be more tech/general discussion oriented.

I think it’s because people trend a lot older on Lemmy than Reddit. I imagine a lot of the more vile opinions you see on Reddit are teenagers. I’ve not seen much unhealthy discussion/ad hominen on Lemmy yet.

Agreed, it’s not perfect. Never mucked around with them myself, as 60 has been fine enough.

I’m in the camp that 60fps is still acceptable. With the Steam deck I think I’ve even moved to thinking that a stable 45 fps feels smooth enough. 120Hz is a bonus, but I think mods will give you unlocked framerate if the game comes to PC.
