  • Yep. From a systems analyst perspective, if there’s a problem with a couple people, it’s because they’re idiots. If a lot of people are having a problem, it’s a systems issue. In this case, the DNC and their shit messaging.

It’s like they hired an intern to do their marketing. They had a few funny clap backs on socials but they didn’t actually pivot to appeal to their target demographics. Fucking marketing 101.

  • Yeah, it’s the pressure of needing tasks completed immediately and the obvious importance/need to remove the stress-causing thing.

It’s a perfect recipe for hyperfocus and also why I can’t set my own deadlines–because I know it’s all wibbly wobbly when there isn’t a hard deadline from an external source. I’d be rich if I had a dollar for every time I wished someone would just tell me when something is needed instead of asking me to give an estimate.

If the task feels like boring busy work or bullshit and no one told me otherwise, you’ve got fuckall chance it’s getting done.

  • Didn’t get converted to a permanent position after a whole year. The only negative feedback (among great remarks) I had was:

    1. Be more organized. Send more updates more often.
    2. Speak without tangents or sounding scattered.
    3. Improve prediction of how long tasks will take and completion dates when considering other priorities.

Does anyone want to guess my diagnosis? Lol

The maddening thing is that I didn’t get any follow-up after those halfway comments until the surprising notification that my position would be expiring. If I had, I would have pursued accommodations. I thought I had been making progress in improving those things :/

  • And I’m going to add something that helps me talk to my therapist: “If it’s mentionable, it’s manageable.”

After you’ve tried to deal with something yourself and haven’t succeeded, telling someone about what’s going on, no matter how unimportant or embarrassing it feels, is the first step to living a life of contentment.

I’ll say many cities have a club that rents out supplies or even has club hives you can use to get started. Also, I don’t live in a huge city and I’ve seen used hives and frames for sale more than I thought I would, so it’s worth keeping an eye out for those as well.

Here’s my weird question: if faux leather is plastic and someone is vegan for environmental reasons, would leather be preferable? What if it’s a byproduct and would otherwise be trashed? These are things I think about as someone who tries to reduce my impact on the environment as much as I feasibly can in a capitalist society.

I feel so kindred with the way you see things. You’re making an observation and you’re curious about the “why” of everything. I feel people often read my similar interest in a subculture as critical. Kind of like how bluntness can be perceived as rude, I guess. Do you ever have a similar response happen to you?
