  • I’m ashamed to say I’ve stepped into the Gacha rabbit hole with Zenless Zone Zero. It’s a fun game, combat feels quite good on PC, characters are likable, and the story is intriguing so far. Though I’m not ashamed to say that I haven’t spent anything on this game, and I’m sticking to free to play, as the value you get out of spending in game just isn’t worth it. There are much better ways to spend money than rolling for a chance to get a character. How much the whales are willing to spend for a character will never cease to amaze me.

  • It’s not just communicating, it’s also stuff for general living, like recognizing road signs, paying bills, dealing with government paperwork, ordering food in restaurants, etc. They won’t always have an English translation beside it, nor do they have an obligation to have it. Same goes for people too.

Say for example, a Japanese just showed up in your hometown, knowing not a lick of English, and planning to live here long term. I’m sure people in your hometown are more than willing to help, but how much stuff in your general life is in English? Surely you can’t expect someone to be able to help them around 24/7, and with a language barrier too.

You gotta know that not everything is going to accommodate for you in foreign places. OP might be able to do well enough since people in Denmark probably speak English well in general. But if you want to truly know the people, their culture, or even form deep connections with some, you have to do some work, and language is a first big step.

  • Not entirely disagreeing with you but, what exactly is “malicious” about separating photo and metadata? It could be just how their servers process and stores those photos, with the added benefit of geotagging videos.

I use Google Photos and upload in original quality. When I download from takeout, the metadata is still in the original files. Iirc, only if you select upload in “high quality” where they compress it again, do you lose the metadata in the file stored in the cloud.

  • Finished this game recently. Took me about 30 hours, which includes getting every collectible and upgrades in the game.

The only game I’ve played that is similar to this is Hollow Knight, which although could be extremely hard when it wants to, most of the main game is not as brutal as Nine Sols.
TBH, it’s really frustrating when you keep dying over and over on the same enemy. But when you finally nail down the movements and parry timings, it’s pretty satisfying to see yourself come out of a fight you were struggling before with minimal damage.
For that reason, I hope that they implement a boss rush mode that lets you go back and fight previous bosses without having to go through the entire game again.

Other than that, the music and atmosphere is pretty decent. I enjoyed the story a lot and the way they use manga panels to tell it throughout. Very glad I played this game.

  • Hades 2 Early access! Got it as soon as it shadow dropped on Steam.

Even though it’s in early access and the ending won’t be revealed until launch, there’s already so much content I’m having a blast playing it already.

Just word of caution, the game obviously is still incomplete. There are unfinished artwork all around, navigating menus with a controller can be clunky occasionally, and imo the game balance really needs to be tuned. Hence early access for Supergiant to receive player feedback. With so much more game mechanic to choose from compared to the first game, I feel like the boon upgrades are spread a little too thin to boost enough base weapon damage to carry into later regions. Or maybe I’m just bad at the game idk haha.

If you want the complete experience from start to finish, I would recommend you wait, and it’s okay to do so.
But, if you can live with the downsides of early access, and don’t mind spoiling yourself before launch, Hades 2 is a good time now. I’d encourage anyone who are playing it now to actively give feedback to make this the best game on launch!

  • What in the world have I woken up into…

As an Asian/Taiwanese, I do not understand why Hexbearians feel the need to point out what’s racist for us.
The picture of Xi the Pooh is clearly a parody and pointed specifically at Xi and the CCP, and not a general racist insult to Asians. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, in East Asia knows that, including the Chinese themselves. We use/refer to it a lot ourselves on our own social media platforms in Taiwan (習維尼, 習: Xi, and Winnie the Pooh: 維尼), and if you mention any of it on Chinese social media Weibo/WeChat, you likely will get banned from the platform.

Kind of reminds me of cultural appropriation gone out of hand, where Westerners feel the need to be angry at other Westerners for wearing Japanese Kimonos or Chinese Quipaos. Like, no one here is offended. We don’t understand why those people feel the need to be angry for us.

Edit: I just saw a Hexbear comment on another thread posting that China doesn’t ban Winnie the Pooh because Disney is able to exist. Well, no shit. It’s in the context of Disney. Put that phrase in any other thread on their platform (preferably political) and see what happens, then can you claim that the CCP doesn’t ban the word Xi the Pooh.
