How absolutely surprising and shocking that Joe Rogan continues to push the MAGA agenda.
I am not a number.
How absolutely surprising and shocking that Joe Rogan continues to push the MAGA agenda.
The only two that I ever still make use of are XDA for custom firmwares and other Android related shit. And Pokecommunity for the ROM hacking / decompilation stuff.
How much does this guy get paid?
Probably DC Comics. And it depends what my role in this universe would be. But knowing my luck I’d just be a random civilian that gets wiped out during the latest rampage by Atomic Skull or something. But at least everything gets reset every few years, so that I could live again to be super villain fodder another day.
I definitely understand the aversion to algorithms because just look at what platforms like Facebook, Twitter or even Reddit these days do with them. In the wrong hands, it’s deceptive and dodgy as fuck.
But I wouldn’t be opposed to an algorithm that you can tailor yourself. And I don’t mean Bluesky style ‘tailoring’, I mean give us a list of interests and categories to toggle that then have more weight in the feed. So for example, if you like metal, you would then see more metal related stuff in your feed and not have it downed out by Taylor Swift and Kanye West because upvotes.
And something I picked up from Facebook (even though it doesn’t work for shit on Facebook because their algorithm is mentally handicapped) is being able to ‘favourite’ something. And by doing that, not just pinning it to the top of the list of communities but actually making it appear in your feed more whether the upvotes are a high amount or not.
You mean to tell me that the people who like to force their own norms and traditions and religion onto others whether they like it or not have authoritarian tendencies? No way!
Cringe is teenagers and 20 somethings hero worshipping Joe Rogan and supporting right wing christian nationalists. Lamest fucking generation around. Even boomers had a hippie phase before becoming old and bitter. Gen Z just skipped that and went straight to the conformist bootlicker phase.
I used to think a future with cyborgs would be pretty cool but personally, I’m not so hot on the idea anymore. The problem is that you would be beholden to whichever corporation or government manufactures and pays for parts. And who is to say that the support for whichever product that you’ve surgically implanted will be for life, and that you won’t end up with useless landfill electronics sewed up inside of you.
Personally I think that if AI was ever made with altruistic purposes, that could fill the role of things like complex calculations and extra memory or a log. And good Augmented Reality could fill the role of interacting directly with entertainment and blocking out the outside world. And maybe one day there would be effective ways of interacting directly with computers through electrodes or even wirelessly. Although who knows how our privacy would be invaded then. There could be literal thought police in that case.
The problem is that the tech will always come from someone else. Imagine integrating this kind of tech into your life on such a deep level and then the person in charge of over seeing and maintaining this tech turns out to be an authoritarian nazi.
Do people think that the more specific labels and variations are the reason for the hate? Because as someone who only actually started looking up terminology and familiarising myself with the people late in life, and has walked amongst closed minded conservative people, they don’t know or care about anything outside of ‘gay’ or ‘trans’. Even non-binary is an alien concept to most.
It doesn’t matter what the label is or what the colours are, people who hate anything out of the norm are going to hate anything out of the norm regardless. Especially when they’ve been raised in a religion that teaches them from childhood that anyone out of the norm is going to burn and suffer for eternity. They don’t do research so that they know what they’re talking about and they don’t bother to ever actually get to know any of the people they claim to hate. They just like to hate.
If they weren’t going after trans people right now, they would be going after gay people. And you can bet that’s next anyway. Have people already forgotten how gay people were treated before trans people were the target?
I’ve been playing around with Facebook for the last couple of weeks and the censorship is so crazy these days is isn’t funny. But only if you post anti Trump and Elon content, even as a non American. I’ve already had a couple of posts flagged for ‘misinformation’ since after Zuckerberg made this announcement and I’ve seen it happening to other actual Americans too. These ‘free speech’ people are all fucking jokes and liars and the biggest pearl clutchers whenever someone exercises their free speech to speak against them.
Yeah that’s fair enough and I’m definitely generalizing. It’s just the general sum of my personal observations over the years. And it could easily be just seeing the wrong conversations in the wrong places or whatever. To be fair, you seem to hear about US issues a lot more than European issues on the net in general anyway.
I don’t want to start a war or anything but as someone from neither the USA or Europe, Europeans online often come across as even more exceptionalist than Americans, despite the reputation to the contrary. Because, at least in leftish or liberal spaces, no one is more ready to shit on and call out the USA than Americans. And I don’t mean they’re anti-American or whatever, they just want their country to be better, so they call out all the shit.
Europeans on the other hand often seem more proud and / or defensive about their countries. Maybe they speak openly in their own country specific communities but I don’t get the sense that they’re as open and friendly to outside input or criticism as the Americans are.
The way I see it, we’re all hooked onto the same stream of memes and billionaire owned news sources everywhere across the world. So thinking we’re immune to being overtaken by dangerous alt right nonsense and ignoring all the obvious signs would be a very stupid move, wherever you are. If they’re not taking this seriously, they’re doing exactly what the Americans did and have done since 2016.
I hated that hairstyle when I was a kid too lol.
You’re right. I honestly wasn’t even thinking. Going to edit my comment now.
I think Blåhaj handled this person well over all. Even if they’re just 100% troll, they weren’t being fed in Blåhaj and had to go elsewhere. But also there was always the chance that they’re just someone on a journey or with things to sort out. Some people have completely given up on being any gender and treat it like a joke in an almost nihilistic way. But clearly there’s a line between that and an actual troll.
Either way, I wouldn’t say that it’s standard heterosexual cisgender behaviour to go as far as Drag did just for the lulz. So maybe one of these days they’ll have an awakening and remember how no one in the community either fed them or shunned them when they were confused and behaving badly.
From what I’ve heard, admins can’t really do anything about repeat offenders / downvote trolls because of something about scanning through databases or something. But then I also saw a post yesterday about how Friendica reveals the usernames of people who upvote and downvote, so it seems like that information is accessible in the API or framework of the Fediverse.
I don’t really obsess about framerates myself and I’ve never had the kind of budget to have the latest and greatest parts but from what I’ve seen, somewhere around 30fps is fine.
And even though you didn’t ask, the last setting that I ever sacrifice is draw distance. I’ll turn down textures and shadows and reflections and everything else before I sacrifice draw distance. I don’t need realistic graphics to be able to immerse myself and have a good time. But things popping in and out of existence in front of your eyes are the ultimate immersion breaker for me.
I used to go to internet cafes to look for cheats for video games. Pretty much all I ever used the internet for back then. Don’t remember many other sites but I do remember a website where you slaughtered the teletubbies in various ways, like dismembering them or slicing them in half with meat saws.
After that, my first social uses of the internet were MySpace, a forum for metal and alternative music called MakeSomeNoise (named after a magazine that came out in my country) and the chat rooms on The Offspring’s website.
I dual boot and still use Windows 10. And everything I’ve seen from Windows 11 just seems like trash to me. My mother got a new laptop about a year ago and I came along to help her set it up. With her previous laptop, I opted to not do the free update to Windows 10 because people were complaining about it at the time (and I was still on Windows 7), so she ended up stuck with Windows 8.1 for years. So this time I did opt for the free update to Windows 11 and it feels like a huge mistake so far.
Her machine is now slow and struggles to get things up and running. And every single fucking time she tries to use it, it decides to run virus scans and download and install updates all at the same time. And these updates often seem to take an entire day. The last update took two days where she could barely do anything on her laptop because it was slowing things up so much.
And that all makes the frustration add up when you come across the other fucking stupid things they’ve done. So now when you right click on the desktop there’s a few seconds where Windows needs to get its shit together to show you the new useless menu that’s been slapped on top of the old useful menu. Then you need to click ‘show more options’ for the actual useful menu. Then another few seconds for Windows to get its shit together to load that menu.
And I don’t want to load a bunch of stuff like classic shell or winaero tweaker because she’s old and just wants to play hidden object games and solitaire. So I’m going to have to come running every time something happens that she doesn’t understand. So I prefer leaving it vanilla.
But fuck Windows 11. It’s absolute fucking garbage based on my experience so far. I was going to hold out for the inevitable Windows 12 because Microsoft seem to love using their paying customers as beta testers with every second OS they release but now I’m not so sure. Hoping there will be some sort of hack to keep enterprise updates coming or something.
Killing is wrong. And bad. There should be a new, stronger word for killing. Like badwrong, or badong. Yes, killing is badong. From this moment, I will stand for the opposite of killing: gnodab.
