Almost perfect, just needs more passive voice. “Police engaged” sounds like they might even be the cause of the death.

I find all the added Mastodon cruft in Lemmy posts annoying. The added @ tags take up space and turn into pointless links, and hashtags disrupt the flow of reading. Beyond that, they’re different forms of communication with different purposes. Just use both pieces of software for their intended use. I have both Mastodon and Lemmy accounts.

Or she was in on the coup and Trump’s initial statements about her running things for him weren’t just a product of the kakistocracy.
Public statement: “We will not bow down to US imperialism!”
Trump: “What the fuck, we had a deal, I’ll kill you.”
Private statement: “Jesus, do you not understand that I need to say that to rally support to take over?”
Trump: “I don’t understand anything at all, say the secret deal publicly or I’ll kill you.”
Public statement: “We look forward to giving our nominal enemy everything they want.”

Not to disagree with anything you said, but be careful applying American exceptionalism to the problem of fascism. This shit is international. We attract the worst people from around the globe to push hard here, but everywhere in the English-speaking world is backsliding under the same influence campaigns, and they see and support their fellow fascists in non-English countries. Many of our worst influences are foreign born (Musk, Thiel, Murdock) and hold no devotion to the US. It’s just the most profitable market to capture. But they won’t stop here.

I don’t think anyone should be surprised that the all-white party in the two party system was racist to the core, I’m just surprised so many people in the nominal middle have accepted that as just an acceptable political stance to hold openly rather than as lightly concealed dog whistles. This should be a single issue deal breaker that triggers immediate and increasingly vociferous opposition, not just one issue among many that’s not important if some college student asks you for your pronouns.

This, but without the implication it’s cheating. As someone who’s both a software engineer and trains ML models, choosing a language that’s commonly used for the general task area you’re tackling (ML or not) is very useful. If it’s popular for the task area you’ll have a lot of references for how to solve problems, you can find and use libraries designed and demonstrated for similar tasks, and yes, you can cut and paste code snippets.
Almost every language is capable of doing anything, and software engineers regularly use multiple languages in the course of their work. Libraries and support are a big deal in deciding which to use, and will often be more important than your personal language familiarity/preference.

They’re not doing just the facts. They’re telling us why they’re being recalled and doing it in a non-descriptive way that makes an unusual act sound usual. If it was just the facts they’d say “they’re being recalled” and end it there. Everything else about why is either the author injecting their interpretation or the administration’s press release.

Mainstream media does so much normalizing of Trump. It’s just “reshaping diplomatic posture for (undefined by the newspaper) ‘America first’ priorities” rather than firing public servants to install regime loyalists to threaten non-white governments.

Comrade Soda-Machine, is that you?

The hypothesis is because she’s not doing anything, she’s leaning right. Which is a not a lot to write an entire article about.

“I Support Palestine Action” is not intolerance. Simply saying that publicly is an arrestable offense in the UK. They dropped from ‘Open’ to ‘Less Restrictive’ in the Global Expression Report, an outlier among the traditional Western countries. They’re not as bad as ‘roving bands of secret police’, but painting this as just a quest against intolerance is nonsense apologia.

From the conservative Jerusalem Post no less. The article isn’t particularly focused on Nazi dad as a problem, but that they’d even headline it for what would otherwise be their chosen candidate is itself a choice.

The order could have far-reaching effects on US efforts to dominate the nascent technology, which has already become a significant part of the economy and the stock market but which also still remains untested in many ways.
Fucking HOW, CNN? It doesn’t just not have far reaching effects, it has zero effect.
I feel like I’m being gaslit by news organizations deciding an executive order has relevancy to state laws. They don’t even pretend that there’s some novel legal theory that could maybe allow it, they just write the whole article like it’s a royal decree and self obviously impactful.

That sure is the company line.

This feels like rage bait. From the decision itself, to praising the executives rather than the techies, to putting them up on the girder like they were the common man doing a tough and dangerous job to build our modern city. You don’t just choose the worst thing at every possible decision point by accident.

Isn’t “the army having everything under control” what a coup is?

Most compromised passwords are used by script kiddies in mass attacks, not targeted attacks by elite hacking squads. If a password fails verbatim, they just move on to the next compromised account of millions, not develop pattern recognition software to try to figure out replacement candidates for each website.

So like the same 50% opposition as in the US. This kind of seems like we’re all living under the same propaganda and international political machines.

What an amazing coincidence that a corroborating third party has just randomly stumbled into this post that only the OP would have been notified about. Seems legit and not two faces of a sad weirdo.
Holy crap, ICE hired Laura Jedeed?! Jesus, they’re really doing no checks at all. A single web search would have immediately identified her as a journalist and anyone who clicked around would realize she’s a lefty antifascist journalist.
