I think vast majority of my friends wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between “browser”, “search engine” and just “Google”. Yes, it seems weird but TBH does it really matter? They can use internet just fine.

Man, would taking a few seconds to verify stuff kill you? All Proton applications are open source.
I recently migrated to their hosted plan and can highly recommend. It’s as close as you can get to Google Photos with E2EE right now.

I’m just recommending a service which I find very useful. I actually first heard about it on Lemmy and I’m grateful for the recommendation so I spread the word in hope of helping someone else.
It might protect you from a lot of Google’s shit show but it won’t show you good results too.
Kagi is the only usable search engine for me right now. Yes, it’s not free. I needed a whole year to convince myself to pay for searching but I finally did it and it is absolutely worth it. I’m a SE though, so searching stuff is like half my job.
I’ll stick with KeePassXC but I’m still very happy to see them remembering about Linux. I hope Drive will be next, this is something I’m really waiting for.

True. This is one of the reasons why I only help people with their computers using remote desktop now. I’m so done with doing this verbally over the phone.
