My laymans assumption is that acupuncture likely has a counterirritant effect, which can make pain seem less pronounced.
Sort of like how punching yourself in the side of the head can provide relief for a migraine.
We already did this unintentionally during our natural evolution. All we really got out of it were a group of humans who can run slightly faster on average, and a group of humans who can drink milk as adults without shitting themselves.
I imagine the timeframe to get any noticable results would be in the thousands of years, even with deliberate selection for specific genes.
Counterpoint to that, the guy had a known history of locking himself inside those things and trying to escape as a challenge.
Guess I’ll wait for a nice drm-free cracked version rather than buying it.
The kīngitanga movement arose generally out of opposition to european expansion. Groups of Māori determined that if they could unite the disparate tribes under a single leader they would have more power to resist the british.
It only dates back to the 1800s and doesnt have the support of all tribes, but much like the european monarchs they are effectively just soft power figureheads.
Please AMD, revive ZLUDA so i can free myself from the nightmare that is Nvidia.
I would love nothing more, but unfortunately we’ve worked ourselves into a corner where the only way to ditch them at this point would be to re-engineer all of the external cuda-dependent code in house.
Starts off as a caving blog then pivots into a mystery that keeps you wondering if it was real.
If it helps, 80% of the work i do when wearing my sysadmin hat is just ensuring that all of our systems are communicating properly.
I did like one semester of computer science, does that count?
Honestly I just google shit until I understand it. Linux has great documention, and where it fails you can just read the source code.
There is a recent New Zealand Today episode that interviews him. IIRC, he was involved in a number of low level scams at the time, and was arrested while dining on a stolen credit card. Man was just a natural showman, who wasnt going to go down quietly.
They should have been more pro-active about notifying customers about the incident, but it’s incredibly difficult to identify every parcel individually at first. They don’t typically get logged to a a truck for each leg of the journey, so the only way to identify what was lost would be to wait a day or two until it is reasonable to expect that everything would have been scanned to a depot or delivery, then tally up what hasnt been scanned.
Built off it, rather than copied it. That’s par for the course in most science.
Literally billions of people are. Do you think meat just spontaneously appears in the supermarket?
Quite the opposite. Cannibalism(assuming you obtain consent) would be ethical meat consumption.
Are we all just gonna ignore the semi-transparent power pole in front of the sign?
I forget, did Pegasus end up disabling their networking after they made their initial escape? I don’t remember it being mentioned, but it makes for quite a plot hole if they continued on as normal.
The flip side to this, is that the vast majority of meat in pet foods is effectively waste from human-grade meats, for the same reason. That means the price point for competition in pet foods is significantly lower.
It also means that there won’t be as direct of an impact on livestock numbers should pet food be sourced via synthetic meats, as it just means the byproducts which would enter the food chain for dogs instead become waste products with a cost of disposal.
Why not replace the dc-dc converter? Seems like a much simpler fix.
