The last harry potter movie (deathly hollows pt 2) marks the end of the franchise as far as I am concerned. 8 great movies and 7 great books. I wish there was more but I fail to see how it can be extended. Both fantastic beasts and crushed child do more harm than good to the original franchise

It is unlikely that the service itself will delete your data. Although if it is one of those job board sites like indeed that try to build a profile and sell it to employers it might make sense to delete your account so your information is no longer forwarded
This is the community fork that is still maintained. There are multiple instances like invidious and from what I understand it is relatively easy to self host. Since it is only for short term file storage and its E2EE I do not really mind using one of the public instances.
Savings in battery. It’s mostly just from not running google play in the background. If you then go on to root that custom ROM you might be able to use some specific root tweaks. I suspect the savings for a custom ROM to be 10% or less. Airplane mode and battery saver will help a decent amount which is available on stock.
I might consider kodi since it will probably be more organized. Vlc will have normal file navigation but with kodi it will organize everything into movies and TV shows. If its going to be a purely offline device then you can just flash a custom ROM and see a decent amount of savings. It will likely be difficult to find a current generation phone with an sdcard and a tablet might make more sense for this use case. If you know you are gonna flash the device you are going to get you should make sure it has decent custom ROM support. Generally if it has an official lineageos build then it is well supported. All of this might honestly be more trouble than it is worth if you are not experienced with flashing a custom ROM so maybe just start with stock and see if you actually need to first.

I am also honestly surprised how much money is to be made in drop shipping. Like is there just a significant portion of the population just seeing ads clicking them then buying whatever product from some shady website. Then they wait a month for it to arrive from China in a package that has been very obviously drop shipped. Like does no one do any research into what they are buying and what it should cost?
I’m more concerned about security. In most circumstances my data is really not worth that much especially when hardware is involved. They might be collecting some data for other reasons but I am not convinced that a significant amount of hardware has a malicious backdoor.
I researched this a bit previously for proton and I think there was one case where someone had their account deleted but they were using the service excessively. I also read that if you do upgrade to a premium subscription support can help you merge your accounts together so I guess they kind of support it. If your making a few accounts even on the same IP you are probably fine just don’t login to them in quick succession and you will probably be fine. I do suggest you use an aliasing service when you can.
This is the perfect example of why privacy matters. No matter how much you trust a parent company one day when the investors come knocking they are legally obligated to liquidate all assets to the highest bidder. Today its 23andme tomorrow it could be discord, google, amazon, Facebook or any other tech company.

Oh the joys of Linux. The simplest things take the longest and you always end up learning some random ecosystem you never wanted to learn. Eventually you will find some weird set or circumstances that make everything work in which case you will never touch it again. Then 5-10 years from now you will finally realize all the mistakes you made when you no longer care about the problem you are trying to solve.

I am just going to keep using 10 regardless of whether it has support or not. Yes its missing features yes there is some potential for security issues but I think the chances that my computer on my lan could be remotely compromised to be relatively slim. Other security threats would require that I visit some kind of malicious website or application which I think would be unlikely. I don’t even think running win XP or win 7 on a secure lan would be a significant concern since it is behind a firewall anyway. I do intend to switch to Linux at some point but the lack of support from Microsoft is not enough to convince me to upgrade to 11 or make the switch.
