I’ve been watching Murder She Wrote and each episode has a “this time on Murder She Wrote” at the beginning that is kind of a convoluted spoiler for the episode. I don’t know who would want that, especially on a mystery show.

It’s been on my mind lately because of some Trumper relatives who are currently screaming about how “Kamala Harris is a slut.”
She dated Willie Brown for a year, just before he was mayor of San Francisco in 1994. He had been separated from his wife for twelve years at that point, and she was also single when they met and started dating. Even so, the Fox News crowd is enjoying the refrain “She stole a black woman’s husband!!” (predatory promiscuity)
They also parrot the phrase “She slept her way to the top.” She was already an assistant district attorney when they met. He was the speaker of the California State Assembly and was known for handing out high paying state appointments to his friends. He appointed her to two boards- the Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board and the California Medical Assistance Commission, consecutively. Both paid well and gave her experience and connections in politics/public service, which may have helped her when she ran for and won the elected position of District Attorney fifteen years later, but certainly did not guarantee her the job.
But any excuse to be publicly racists and diminish the accomplishments of a Black woman while sexually shaming her get pounced on with enthusiasm.
Ooh, thanks, I’ve been wondering about getting a book light, but I haven’t used one since the '90s and they were kind of terrible then.
I didn’t understand time zones, but heard about “losing” or “gaining” hours when flying, so I thought that time moved differently while you flew, depending on if you were flying with or against the spin of the Earth.
Marionberries have a very complicated lineage.
Much has changed since then. She sponsored a comprehensive federal legalization bill in the Senate, and she’s called for ending prohibition altogether as recently as this March, at a roundtable event with pardon recipients where she also called on the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to quickly reschedule cannabis, as the Justice Department has since formally proposed.
If elected, Harris would become the first president who openly supports marijuana legalization. And the list of potential running mates that she’s reportedly considering also includes a majority who share that position, as well as some who have signed legalization into law in their state.
While Harris has a complicated history with cannabis policy, she has come out in full support of legalization in recent years, sharing that “the War on Drugs was an abject failure. It’s time to legalize marijuana and bring justice to people of color harmed by failed drug policies.”
Journaling and mindfulness meditation help with this and are free (except the cost of a journal if you get a physical one).
I’m allergic to chocolate solids but can eat cocoa butter. So, in a society that is unreasonably obsessed with chocolate, it is nice that there is occasionally a “white chocolate” option on things that for some reason come in 15 flavors of chocolate and little else.
I adore David Mitchell and his rants. I really liked the one about how “rape” should not become socially acceptable and silly when followed by “pillage” just because the Vikings are depicted as having worn silly hats.
A South African friend of mine says “Saturday” for the upcoming one and “Week Saturday” for the one that is a week and some days away. I’m not sure how widespread that is, she’s the only one I’ve heard use it, but it does seem more clear.
There are a few in my town and it’s really hard not to stare as they go by, even after seeing them around a bit. I imagine a few accidents have happened by now because people can’t stop rubbernecking and going “Holy shit, it looks even stupider in real life!!” >> crash.
That’s really neat, thanks for explaining!
OH, I get it. The pick up price is the purchase price. That’s pretty clever. Does that mean the trash collectors have to pick every bag up by hand and glance at the contents? How many categories of trash/bag are there?
Interesting! Does the curbside program bill you by weight as well? That sounds labor intensive, compared to here where you just rent the $small, $$medium or $$$large bin and pay quarterly regardless of use. And recycling and composting are free.
That is neat! But since it charges you to put things in, wouldn’t that encourage people to just throw their food in the trash? Or is that discouraged somehow?
The county I live in (Northern California) requires that household food waste go into the curbside compost bin, or home compost. They do random checks to make sure you haven’t put any food in the landfill bin and you can get a fine.
It gets turned into compost for landscaping, along with the yard waste, not food though.
This thing is way more expensive than it seems like it should be for what it is, but if you’ve got a yard full of burrs it’s worth the $270 to clear it up and reduce general misery at home.

What do you want to do today, Max?
TRY TO GET IN TO THE LIBRARY!! 😼
It puts Reuters as the center and that seems pretty accurate, IMO.
I don’t feel like there is a big variety in vibes from episode to episode on Murder She Wrote. But if they make you happy, I’m glad they are there for you.
