  • I’m doing my part!

I used to go to my local loblaws chain almost exclusively because it is so convenient (like, literally across the street). For months now i have actively made an effort to avoid them at all costs. So that’s thousands of dollars revenue gone for them

At the same time, i’m getting higher quality food from elsewhere

I count myself very lucky to have the resources to escape the clutches of the westons (and metro/empire). I realize many dont have the means to do the same and we need to do better to give everyone more options

  • Probably not what you want to hear, but I think exiftool + bash script really is the way to go. A few years ago I had a similar need and searched for hours online… I ended up hacking together a “good enough” bash script that reads all the dates of my pictures and does some stuff. It took 30 mins of reading some basic bash scripting basics. Way less time than searching for a tool that probably doesnt exist.

In 2024, you can probably just ask chatgpt to write a quick and dirty bash script for you and it might require another 10mins of debugging/begging chatgpt to fix its mistakes

  • Europe is not designed for oversized cars.

Too many drivers are selfish morons and will manage to cram their oversized vehicles into any space without consideration for the safety of anyone outside their own bubble. Doesnt matter if the city was “designed” for it or not.

I was just in Bellagio Italy last week. For some reason, cars are allowed to drive through the medieval city center through extremely narrow roads packed with pedestrians… Which is OK if you’re driving a fiat 500… But this oversized jeep cherokee drive right through town, with barely any space for pedestrians to move aside. I’m not sure if it was a lost tourist or a local resident, but drivers should not be trusted to pilot such a vehicle through crowds with so little margin for error.
