took two images with different exposure, overlayed them in gimp and used a mask to bring the cloud reflections from the darker shot into the lighter image of the island, no further editing

    Originally, I believed that I can’t build an HDR image from the mini-3 AEB-shots, as somehow HDR from JPEGs seems to not be a good idea, and apart from Photoshop there’s no software around that fully understands the DNGs of the more modern DJI drones. Then I found that I can just put them in gimp and manually build the HDR part. That meant that quite some shots I’ve taken last year could be rescued :)

    For anyone else confused…

    (I’ve heard of HDR and i know of the DJI drone company, but wasn’t familiar with the other acronyms)

    AEB: Auto Exposure Bracketing - When set to three bracketed exposures (the default setting), the first image is taken at the correct exposure value (as calculated by the camera), the next is underexposed, while the third is overexposed.

    DNG: Digital Negative file - raw image format used in digital photography
