In this thread:

https://archive.ph/szrpO

A number of comments were removed for “advocating against masking”. I don’t see that the comments removed advocate for anyone else to stop masking - they answered the question posed by the OP, and are (mostly) not substantially different from the answers that were allowed.

“Advocating for not masking”:

  • Is (mostly) not what’s happening here. If the question is acceptable to ask, why isn’t it acceptable to answer?
  • Hasn’t been previously communicated as a rule.

I’m mostly just salty because my comment got removed, and I don’t feel like I broke any rules. If that’s the rule going forward, I’ll abide by it.

A lot of ppl on both lemmygrad and hexbear feel strongly that we shouldn’t platform any comments about not masking, due to the potential harm it could cause irl. They reported these comments and we removed them.

I don’t think this needs a people’s court post, and it’s not a bannable offense (unless someone’s linking a bunch of anti-science stuff, wishing other ppl get covid, or trivializing those who had long-covid or something).

I can delete the post. I don’t disagree with masking.

It’s very frustrating to live in a world where masking is generally not accepted (not even AES countries require masking atp, not to mention my reactionary region of the Empire), and to be “in trouble” for even acknowledging that world exists.

I’d just like to say, being the OP of that thread - I didn’t know it was on the level of hardline position that asking a question would provoke such. If I’d known the stance was “masking should be done” and advocating to the contrary can get your post removed, I wouldn’t have asked it in the open-ended way I did, as it’s just baiting at that point; to be clear, I don’t know if that is “the stance”, but if it is, it would be odd for me to pose the question in the way I did.

If there is an “official” stance on masking, I’d be happy to know what it is. Main reason I was asking in the first place was to better understand where others with similar ideology are at on the issue, this far in, (and especially what their reasons are that I could consider for my own reasoning on it) as I hadn’t heard much on it in a while.

There was nothing wrong with your post, it just got locked because ppl had some heated gamer moments wishing covid on others, and it was turning toxic.

It bums me out that my comment was removed because I wasn’t even saying other people should stop or that it’s even a good decision on my part, I was just describing why I’ve caved, it was more just venting about how it’s come to this

It feels like no matter what I do, I’m not making the right decision

It doesn’t help that after this all went down, my dad literally told me earlier (completely unprovoked, I have no idea why he said it) that “they should’ve gotten rid of curbside pickup after the pandemic because people too lazy to get out of their cars don’t deserve to eat”, which I shouldn’t even have to say why that horrifies me on so many levels

Like, I have to live around people who have been doing everything they can ever since the start of the pandemic to avoid masking whenever they weren’t literally forced to, these people even stopped masking while being sick, anything I do just feels like it’s in vain when they undo all that effort in a second
