A fundraiser launched to help the family of a father who was jailed for attacking police outside a hotel housing asylum seekers in Bristol has attracted anger online.
Among those to donate was Tristan Tate, the brother of self-proclaimed misogynist Andrew Tate, who has given £2,500.
Dominic Capaldi, 34, was jailed on Wednesday for 34 months after being caught on video footage throwing objects towards officers in the city’s Castle Park, while crowds chanted “send them back”.
The groundworker also targeted police who were trying to prevent protesters from gaining entry to the Mercure Hotel, which is used to house asylum seekers.
Created by his friend on Friday, the crowdfunder for Capaldi’s family aimed to raise £1,000 – but by Saturday lunchtime had raised more than £3,000 – claiming the sentence was unlawful.
I wish there was an opposite thing we could do. Like a fundsinker that would cost him money.
A fund-lowerer
How does raising money help? He’s already been sentenced, so it’s not going to go in for legal defenses. And he’s a dangerous individual and therefore unlikely to be eligible for parole.
Seems like a great big nothing burger really.
Also where did his idiot friend come up with 1 grand from? That is not a large amount of money.
Seems to just be the standard grift by the family to try and pocket some free money.
To you maybe.
No it’s not a large amount of money to anyone. We all live in the same economy we all have to pay for the same basic things. It’s less 1 months minimum wage. Seems like a very strangely picked limit likely by chosen by someone that doesn’t actually know the value of money and thinks it’s a lot.
It’s a lot of money if you haven’t got any.
Don’t agree with that fundraiser though. They may just have wanted a new iPhone.
It’s for his family.
