Alright, so look, there’s a lot of debate around which certain Star Wars movies or shows are good or bad and why, and it’s such a popular franchise that everyone seems to have their own take. And they’re all wrong and I’m right, so listen up.
Star Wars is a sci-fi franchise for kids designed around selling toys and it does that absurdly well and it makes an estimated bazillion dollars a year. Not all of it is designed to appeal to everyone. Some stuff is serious, some stuff is clearly for kids. It’s not a religious text.
Everyone gatekeeping canon and lore generally has no fucking clue what they’re talking about. Like, I have watched everything there is to watch, I’ve played almost every game, and I’ve read hundreds of star wars books and comics. I have never, ever seen someone who genuinely seems to have a good grasp of the Star Wars lore complain about how some new Disney thing breaks the canon, because we all know (and love) how fucking ridiculously insane it gets sometimes. Most of the time the people complaining about that shit seem to struggle to recall important scenes from the core movie trilogies, let alone anything beyond those.
I’m like 99% convinced the entire drama is fuelled by right wing casual fans and people who don’t really care about Star Wars but try to use it to push right wing talking points.
I just wish that I could discuss my biggest special interest without having to deal with crazy people ranting about how women are the devil or whatever. There’s so much stuff that you can genuinely criticise about Star Wars but the conversation is just drowned out by these fucking losers. It’s so frustrating.
