    A current Democratic governor. I don’t want a senator to give up their seat. Ideally, they’d look for a southern Democrat governor, but I don’t think there are any.

    Maybe the NC governor, Roy Cooper? NC isn’t exactly southern but it’s south of the Mason-Dixon so it’ll placate older voters.

      Why a southerner? You aren’t going to flip any Southern seats with them, they are solidly red, excluding Georgia, which you can win without that.

      My bigger concern would be the rust belt, a large block of swing states that a West Coast candidate may not resonate with. All of those states are both in play, and at risk. The south only has 1 state in play and much less risk.

        FL has abortion and legal marijuana on the ballot. I’m not writing it off.

        Having a southern democrat was mandatory for a winning ticket up until Obama.
