Given the timeline, I would go with someone safe like Buttigieg.

You need someone with experience on the national stage lest there is a repeat of Palin. The only governor with that experience can’t run on a Harris ticket.

The Senate is going to be very tight this election, which means you aren’t going to pick a swing state Senator like Kelly. A non-swing state senator isn’t going to be that valuable.

No one in the House is good option. AOC isn’t going to bring a lot to the ticket and would probably be better working on either building her caucus in the House or waiting for Schumer to retire.

Pete has gone through the primary process and been a prominent spokesperson for the administration. He isn’t exciting, but I don’t see him fucking up either.

He’s one of the least experienced picks out there. Small town mayor to transportation secretary isn’t exactly a stacked resume. It’ll most likely be a governor.

I’m talking about experience being a candidate on the national stage.

He’s run for President and even won some caucuses. He’s gone through the nomination process to become a Secretary. He routinely interacts with national media, both friendly and hostile.

Obama’s resume was a lot thinner and he did okay. Although his first term was pretty bumpy.

The more I’ve thought about it the more I think Pete really is one of the safer candidates in that list. He’s already been vetted at the national level from the 2020 cycle. He’s wicked smart, is a great debater, and from the people who have seen him speak gets people excited. He has a national presence already and doesn’t require giving up a governorship or senate seat.

He won the Iowa caucus in 2020 but because of their whole glitch thing it wasn’t official until days later. Should bring some good Midwest support too being from Indiana and presently living in Michigan.
