Lithium deposit valued at US$1.5 trillion discovered; promises to boost batteries, but worries local indigenous communities.
Really? Will the US be independent manufacturer of lithium batteries now. Will it compete with china ?
The US already has a bunch of lithium, the problem is mining it in an environmentally compatible way
Don’t forget the decades of processing facilities we built. Oh wait…
Good news the current adminstration possibly has a way around the environment, well not around more like straight through.
It’s ok, they’ll just redesignate the mine as being outside the environment.
Almost enough to treat their economic depression?
A bit late maybe? Are we moving away to other battery tech?
We could have been using super/ultra capacitors fo years now, but the battery industry is claiming a lack of energy density over the toxicity and deleterious effects on ecology/human life of lithium products. Not a trade in my opinion, but they’ll chant that mantra to all of our graves.
Leave it alone.
Cocaine that is, white gold, Columbian marching powder.
The endangered animals and indigenous sacred lands are as good as gone under the current oligarchy. :(
