Summary

Canadian academics seeking U.S. government grants now face politically charged questionnaires asking whether their research involves DEI, climate issues, or “gender ideology,” in line with Trump administration policies.

Critics say this ideological vetting threatens academic freedom and could have a chilling effect on research.

The U.S. National Institutes of Health alone funded $57M in Canadian research last year.

Experts warn this may undermine cross-border collaboration, though some see opportunity for Canada to attract displaced scholars and strengthen its research leadership globally.

Yips even if you want to do business, the US admin just makes it undoable or say stuff that rubs you in a very wrong way. Fuck the DEI BS.

IIRC, Canada will or has joined Europe’s Horizon programme.
