First time I saw it, I thought it must be a wrong phone number, a bit counterintuitive.

The EU has been doing that. But it’s difficult to replace a 30T economy, representing 15% of the global aggregate of the world’s GDP.
With Tariffs, the outcome will always be a big loss worldwide. For some more than others.
Add: It’s already been harming USA manufacturers according to this AP article ,
" US manufacturers are stuck in a rut despite subsidies from Biden and protection from Trump. (…).But the factory investment spree has faded as the incoming Trump administration launched trade wars and, working with Congress, ended Biden’s subsidies for green energy. Now, predicts Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics, “manufacturing production will continue to flatline.”

Afaik, they’d like a more moderate leader.
These are quite recent developments. If you want some updates & insight Lei’s Real Talk - YouTube channel is recommended. Also, consider that all news from China is heavily censored, and “good info” is hard to get by.

Not really, NATO and EC( Ursula) are two different entities. She’s facing charges, for her vaccine deals. Nothing to do with defense.

They have started to relocate hundreds of thousands of barrels containing nuclear waste from nuclear plants somewhere at 3 km depth in the Atlantic to check their containment integrity. I guess more and more surprises will turn up, as a result of our past dumping solutions. I believe they have also dumped some, in or near the area of an ancient primal forrest in Poland
But you are right. How will we contain all this waste?

But I most definitely mind an uncontrolled asset derivatives markets, which when abused, (and it will becasue they can) will most probably lead to a new financial crisis.
"The ECB also called on the Commission to draw on “the lessons of the global financial crisis, when opaque and complex securitisations led to excessive risk-taking,” warning that the EU should “ensure that securitisation does not create excessive leverage in the financial system by fuelling asset bubbles and hiding risks on bank balance sheets.

" Spain shares the EU’s threefold vision of China as partner, competitor and rival, and advocates a greater role for its institutions and greater coordination and collective action among its member states to achieve a more balanced relation and overcome a clear bilateral asymmetry in favour of China."
Add: According to some opinions in the FT, Pedro Sanchez , the current PM (socialist party) is sort of a tactical maverick, sometimes seemingly inconsistent, but it’s all about the needs of (his) current political arena.
Being smart and being effective do go hand in hand.
